Excuses

Hey, VG, how many years has JCM waited on public funding to renovate their facilities? To get upgrades, didn't the city finally turnover the day to day operations to Lane College in hopes it would be upgraded?

I can remember when my son was in second grade at Pope Elementary and thinking surely by the time he is in high school that they will have built a new JCM. Well my son is in college now and its still there. Anyone else have to go down the hall to get some water from the bathroom to do a lab experiment???

And yes the city did give Rothrock over to Lane and that was a huge mistake IMO. Lane has hardly ever done anything to improve the field or the facilities. They just wanted a free place to play. In the years that I have been associated with JCM it has always been the JCM coaches ESPECIALLY coach Hardegree when he was there that took care of the field. It was just a bad situation to begin with. The city has always owned the property and JCM used to be a city school. But then the city got out of the school business and turned all of it`s schools over to the county. Now you had a county school playing on a city facility. The city had no reason to take care of Rothrock any more. The county didn`t want to keep it up because they didn`t own it. Basically it came down to this....the city didn`t mind JCM and Lane using it but it was just idle property to them (the city) I truly believe that if the city had given the property to the county rather than Lane that the county would put some money into it to keep it in shape. Now Lane has it and their track record for helping to maintain it has been dismal even though they have been allowed to use it for years.

Now all that has to happen is for the County Commission to properly fund the School System. Oh wait, we're talking about Jackson - never mind.

I've been a referee in Tennessee for the past 4 years and have never been paid with anything other than a school check. Its possible that the money was fundraised by some outside organization and deposited with the school, but its always been school funds. Never have I been paid with cash or a personal check

Ticket sales and fundraiser money goes into the football account and you are paid from that account, just like the bus, we probably spend 3000 a year on transportation that everyone thinks is paid by tax money.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
