not sure of her name but she was a freshman last year at mt juliet and transfered to wilson central. she is a very special ball player

To just simply say who is the best in the state is such an overrated question. A lot depends on the position and the impact that player has on their school program etc. However, Any conversation in regards to the best sophomores in the state or nationally has to include the two Jasmine's.

Jasmine Hassel or Jasmine James

Jasmine Hassel helped lead her team Wilson Central to a state title as a freshmen and as a sophomore is surely averaging a double double on a AAA team that is one of the strongest in the state if not country. Not to mention she is one of the top power forward prospects in the country.

Jasmine James helped her team as a freshman to a Regional Championship and sub state appearance. As a sophomore she is averaging 25pts per game and leading the team in assists (AAA Bartlett High) and they should make some noise in the state tournament. Not to mention she is one of the top guard prospects in the country.

Honestly: there are a lot of good sophomores in Tennessee. Who is the best is just in the eye of the beholder. Different players bring different things to the table.

You are on it. One thing to consider is what is the supporting cast like for different teams? If the team has depth, more than likely it will be very hard to have one person averaging in the 30's. You will mostly see teams with girls averaging that high when that's pretty much all they have. Not to say that a team can't have a girl that can hit in the 30's but to do it every night when you have a lot of girls that can score big, it will pose a problem. Somebody WILL get jealous, be it a parent or the player.

I haven't seen the other Jasmine, but Jasmine James is the real deal.

Though not on the statewide radar yet, Elizabethton post Mariah Pietrowski is quietly making a name for herself. The 6'1" sophomore post does not start, as she plays behind 6'3" big sister Michaela and 5'10" senior Marti Bush on a deep Lady Cyclone team. However, she has led the team in scoring in several games and has a few 10 point quarters to her credit coming off the bench. With just average development, Mariah could easily be a 20 point scorer and double digit rebounder the next two seasons. She isn't flashy, but she is very effective in the low post. Division 1 offers will come her way.
