Did I miss something or did they not include the Donald kid out of West Tennessee? Is Donald not the top LB prospect in the USA? What happened?

Larry Taft told me that this team was put together based on what the players did this year. It wasn't a "career award" team or a "prospect team".

Frankly, Donald's senior year wasn't all that special. Yes, he is one of the top prospects in the country at his position, but he didn't have a great senior year.

Not a career award? Flatt named the coach, over Quarles? OK.

I'm only the messenger. I didn't pick the team.

Just for argument sake, however, Flatt did win a state championship this year, too.

Oh I know, If you read the part under Flatt 3/4 of it was about his past record. Sure he was picked since he retired. Plus I don't think anyone has annoited Larry Taft or the Tennessean as the football experts by no means. Congrats to those who made the team however.

HTV,

Congrats to 2 Emory Road boys for making the team. Since your only the messenger, how about telling Taft that the coaches name is Matt not Marty.

I don't know who Marty Lowe is or if he is real person, but if he is I bet he doesn't act like your buddy Matt Lowe.

Yeah, I caught that, too.

I doubt that i'll be speaking with Larry Taft again anytime soon, but i'll pass on your message, if I do.

By the way, how does Matt "act"? He really isn't much different from just about every other football coach who roams the sidelines.

Notice that every single player selected was a senior.

Who is Roderick Davis? Never heard of him all year. Rod Wilks is the better Rod in Tennessee and the best WR.

BJ Coleman didn't lead McCallie to a championship once in his career. Sonny Gray did in only his second year starting.

LB Josh Day had 20 sacks and WAY over 100 tackles. Tell me, how does John Stokes make it over him when he only had 85 tackles (doesn't even mention his sacks or lack there of) and his team got no where in the playoffs? And the answer better not be because he's a senior and Day is only a junior because if it is, then this "dream team" is stupid and pointless.

1) There are juniors on the list. The first person seen (from left to right) is a junior, and the last person on the list (bottom right) is a junior.

2) If leading a team to a championship is criteria for an individual being named to a Dream Team, then this list would be devoid of names like Golden Tate, Harrison Smith, and some others, and that would be an incomplete list of Tennessee standouts. Nevertheless, if leading a team to a championship quickly should be considered more so than individual talent/accomplishments, then Trent Caffee, a first year starter for Brentwood Academy's state title team, should be considered over Gray.

3) I don't know if John Stokes is one of the best LBs in the state, but, having seen him play, his inclusion is no shame. He even has two state titles to his credit (if state titles are criteria...).

4. Bob Stoops, Ed Orgeron, Steve Spurrier, Phil Fulmer, and Mike Leach apparently know who Roderick Davis is. That's some pretty high-octane offensive brain power there.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
