Actually the Abshire kid runs a 4.39 40yard dash. that sounds pretty fast to me for a big guy. look at clavin johnson he is bout 6'6 and runs a 4.32 40. so i might just have proved all of yall wrong. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Calvin Johnson is 6'4 and ran a 4.39 40. Calvin Johnson is also one of the best athletes in the entire country and this Abshire kid should not even be compared to him. Anyways, these 40 times are handtimed and ridiculous. When Ben Johnson ran his 9.79 100 meter dash in the 1980's, he came through his first 40 yards in 4.37 seconds. So anyone who claims to run any 40's as fast as that are liars and stupid.

agreed. gatlin clocked in a 3.8x in his workout with the texans. gatlin is amazing (lets forget about the steroids for a moment) but no one can go that fast in a 40y, unless it is handtimed by nfl scouts. i doubt it is humanly possible to go under 4.0 in a 40y with a computer time. either way, that shows you the huge disparity between what we think are the blazing fast nfl players and an olympic sprinter. the guys that we consider to be insanely fast in the nfl are still a half second off of a guy like gatlin and that's just in acceleration, comparing their top speed would be even worse

We're tired of hearing this now. If you really want to discuss it, take it to the public private forum.

QUOTE(thecrippler2222 @ May 31 2007 - 04:16 PM) 826469757[/snapback]he's good but not really on the same level as guys like bentley and byrum

I never said he was. Everyone was throwing their opinions in the hat so I decided to add my two cents. I don't think he could beat either one of the guys you mentioned, but he's definitely in the same league. He's definitely top 3 or 4 in the state.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
