Someone stated earlier that I must have seen a different passing league scrimmage (against Elizabethton). Well, I guess I did. You said it was even in your eyes. Your eyes must decieved you because Hampton scored 4 times and the big bad E-Towners only scored once and that was on a tipped ball that miraculously landed in Fuqua's hands. I know that passing league does not mean anything, but this should make the Clones realize that they could beat Hampton. Heck, if Hampton can throw all over you like this in a game when you are expecting the pass, just think what they are going to do to you when they run the ball on you with their superior strength and speed. JC has tried for years to get Elizabethton to play but they just won't. I can garuntee you everyone from Hampton wants to play the E-towners, but I don't think Elizabethton feels the same way. We'll just have to see how much Johnson Co. beats Elizabethton by and then we can talk again..

You know your right. I don't know what I was thinking. Hampton is probably the best team in the state right now. They beat Johnson Co. and they were picked to finish second in the MLC this year by some people.

Guilty as charged. Can I get a mulligan on that first tee shot?

Do you think it could be remotely possible that Tennessee High is not the pushover that everyone obviously assumed?

You tell me. I did not get a chance to see the replay of DB-THS on CMS tonight. How talented is DB - the worst in 10 years. How good a football team - be careful to count them out just yet. Football is a complex dynamic, including teamwork, personal interplay and connection, talent, coaching, etc. DB is will be tested this Thursday at W-B. I think they will surprise many people.

THS, historically, is a top 4A program in this part of the state. Coach Stubbs enters his sixth year as Head Coach with a proven track record, a nemesis in South (always needed for a good story), the best statistical season in the history of THS football in 2004 according to some people, and a real need to appear a little more relaxed and enjoying the opportunity he has. I applaud THS for continuing to schedule DB after South dropped them. I also think the Vikings will be a force to be reckoned with in Week 10 at Death Valley. I wonder, will South really want to trade a 5A non-conference win for a possible 4A conference loss?

But what do I know, I predicted a Johnson County second place finish. That looks correct, only it's in the lower half of the conference.

It's unfortunate that Elizabethton won't play Hampton. And they wouldn't play Cloudland. Various reasons are given, but it's only fair to point out that playing either Dobyns Bennett or Science Hill is a hundred-thousand-plus-dollars-game. But then, it's also worth noting that the Cyclones play Happy Valley. I suppose this indicates the Warriors are deemed worthy enough to enter the City Limits. Who knows?

I remember when Mark White led Happy Valley down Elizabethton's throat. He got hurt two weeks later. It's too sad, because he was a marvelous option quarterback. A couple weeks later, Happy Valley hosted Cloudland and lost by forty-plus. That's the only comparison; and since White didn't play, it's difficult to put a price on the loss of a quarterback. Last season, Harriman's quarterback, Goins got injured near the goal-line on Harriman's first drive. I felt then that that game would've been much closer had Goins been able to continue. In other words, unless the teams are willing to play the only thing we can do is compare same opponents, at full strength.

And next week is a HUGE game for the Cyclones. They have to go to Mountain City the week after the rivalry game with Science Hill. I think this season will demonstrate Hampton's strength. I only hope Coach Witten has a great first season. He's a great guy. However, this is not a good time for Elizabethton to be playing Hampton.

Sometimes I'm in utter disbelief at the dillusion of the Elizabethton fans. They must still be lost in the Witten glory years. Well, those days are over. We are talking about Elizabethton teams that have been beaten on their home field by HV and Unicoi in recent years. Hampton is on a par second to none and anyone who thinks that Hampton would wear down by playing both ways don't understand how tough mountain boys can be. Hampton would beat SH, TH, and would name the score against Elizabethton. I'm willing to bet everything I have on Hampton against any of these schools. I guarantee I'd be a rich man by the end of this season. Whooooooo!!

A lot of these teams on your schedule and/or conference are just not football schools. It's easier to play 7 or 8 teams year in and year out that are almost sure wins and that helps with getting players out..... everybody loves to win. When you play Jo. Co. one week TN high the next and Sull South the next and then you get Eliz. SN , SE and a couple out of conf like Green. and Dan. Boone and you win 8 to 10 games every year then you would be a legitimate top 3 team in the Tri-Cities... tough teams weekly take a tow on your team , injuries, getting fired up week in and week out etc... I think Hampton has a legitimate chance in the State playoffs and they can beat 4A and some 5A teams now and then but to be in a 4A conf. week in & out would take a toll on a small enrollment school. Best of luck in bringing the championship back to NET.

NO Team is overlooked, and by calling a TEAM a sure win is overlooking.

Go Dogs! Good luck to ALL TEAMS.

Hey buddy shows how much you know about high school football........ LOL, Hampton is one of the top single A teams in the STATE, Not only will they win thier confrence (with flying colors), But they just get to murphy this year. East is a AAAA squad. Your a samrt one! HaHa!

P.S. Maybe before you trash talk about ones other school/team, you should take a trip and see them play?.

I garentee you would know who they are then.

Hampton High Bulldogs - Best in Carter County(.) Period

Okay, just calm down. Take a deep breath and a cool sip of mountain spring water. We know you could beat Elizabethton, and East, and Volunteer, and South, and Science Hill, and Greeneville, and Jefferson County, and Morristown East AND West, and DB, and Gate City, and Carson Newman, and Florida State. It's okay....we all give up. Just stick with your schedule and we won't interfere with you on the way to state. Good Luck, I hope you guys win it all.

Are you serious? Go ahead and name the score on Elizabethton and also what would the Science Hill and Tennessee High scores be? When the snow melts up there you need to come down to Johnson City medical center.

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
