Will South get passed Maryville

Recommended Posts

A lot of people think, this was Souths year to beat DB. DB was up for the task against Maryville in preseason play, nomatter what happens in 5A play for DB. When it's all on the line and Maryville is showing all their cards, can South be the big boysl this year. I've said before they could go deep into the playoffs,so I'll say yes

#1, we'll never know if South could've beaten D-B this year. Based on the last several years though, I would not have bet on it. I only bet on sure things, i.e. our win over Science Hill. That was a sure thing. #2, D-B vs. Maryville was a freaking scrimmage. Forget it. #3, South cannot worry about Maryville. Take 'em one game at a time. #4, I can't believe I even wasted my time responding to this topic!

1. South isn't in the playoffs yet. Although they are most likely to make it.

2. They will have to play one of the top four teams from Region 2 if they make it and beat them. ( Most likely South will be the number 1 or 2 seed and play the number 3 or 4 seed from region 2. ( Beating Science Hill means nothing in the standings for the playoffs for South )

3. They will have to play another of the "Final Four" teams from Region 1 and Region 2 and beat them.

4. They will have to beat the other reamining team from Region 1 and Region 2.

5. Some of these games "could be" on the road.

6. Maryville will have to make the playoffs and follow a similar path to be there for the game.

With all of the following things happening, I would have to say "No, I personally do not think South can handle Maryville this season." I think South makes the playoffs, probably makes the final four of Region 1 and 2, and from there it is anybody's guess. There are no free rides.

South probably has the best team that they have put on the field or will put on the field in a while. In many ways they are a better team then Maryville, but in the post season the Rebels know how to win its just what they do. To even get to Maryville South will probably have to play both Morristowns, including an East team that put them away in the second round last year. If South gets to the fourth round though it will be a game that I will pay to see.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
