YOU WILL GET BETTER . If you have the right administration

The statement about the right administration is insightful and true. The administration is focused on basketball. They seem to run off the best athletes in other sports. The athletes named in this thread are good examples, yet are not the only ones who left, just this year, and are contributing at big name schools. Just as a side bar, not all of the kids who left this year were deemed eligible to play at their new schools by the TSSAA. Probably the best athlete to play at Grace is a prime example of this problem. He was the dominant player on the first three Grace teams. He also qualified for the state-wrestling tournament while at Grace. Picky baptist things happened (Not Christian) and he and his family moved to Georgia where he earned a football scholarship and by-the-way he also WON the GA state 215 lbs wrestling title.

Pujo you are correct, they have money and should be on top, they have had great coaches and players. The people making the decisions are not football savvy. One example of the non-football centered priorities is the dual ???Press Box??? for football and baseball (the football and baseball fields are side by side). This three story ???Press Box??? has hardwood floors, wood molding at the floor and ceilings, a full kitchen, two bathrooms, and stained oak desks for the coaches to write on. Yet there is no place in the football ???Press Box??? to film the games and you cannot see home plate in the baseball ???Press Box???. A football savvy origination would have built a field house and functional press boxes not a place to entertain visiting administrators.

By the way Manager this is Grace??™s sixth season and fourth head coach.

What the weight room like and who is over the conditioning, This school has huge potential. It really just comes down to what they are interested in doing. Look at CAK, they used to be a kicking post, it look like they are going some kicking themselves nowadays.

They'll get the chance when they play Hampton. We'll see just how they measure up.

Yes you are right. As a fan and parent of a Ram football player, no we still probably don't measure up to Hampton. Hampton has always been a traditional powerhouse while in AA and obviously now as A football team. I think we will eventually be there. I wouldn't be surprised though if you see Grace ending up second in the region, as long as we stay healthy. We can't afford injuries with just 30 players. We don't have much depth.

Once again, we have never been 1-0. This is all new to us. We have only had football for 5 years but the program will grow.

Grace Christian, as always, was a very gracious host. First class treatment in the pressbox and on the field.

In the early part of the second quarter, it appeared the Rams might run away with it, but the Unaka front and linebackers made some critical stops.

The second half was a tough fight, but again the Unaka Defense was tremendous. Conditioning seemed to be the biggest difference in the latter part of the game.

The Rangers will have to bring more diversity to their offense, but even there, the hustle and fight were very inspiring. It was the third consecutive game in which the Defense had to hold the line to preserve victory. Jacob Estep was steady as usual. Jeremy Sommers, Josh Peters, Hunter Taylor, Nathan Shoun, Brent Perry all had sacks; I think there were more. About the best Defensive effort I've seen the Rangers play in recent years. Again, Grace Christian has a Very Athletic team!

Freshman, Devyn Aldridge was sensational at Defensive End. He made three consecutive plays during the final Grace Christian drive to help seal the deal. Hunter Taylor punted very well. Great tackling by Unaka, especially in the second half, against a Dangerous team.

Its not all about facilities. CAK has terrible football facilities. They practiced on the game field up until this year and practice on it again because it was such a bad field players were getting hurt. CAK has no film room, and their weight room is about the size of a janitors closet. CAKs locker rooms were not built for football and all have the half locker type lockers where they cant even fit their helmets and shoulder pads. CAK does however have a nice stadium I will say, but you cant blame an unsuccessful team on bad facilities because CAK certainly looks like they will be a power this year and they dont know good ones at all. I think the glaring issue at Grace is stability. Grace needs to get a coach and keep him there. New coaches with new systems every year make it nearly impossible for a team to settle down and play. The biggest issue for them is the fact that they have had 3 or 4 coaches in the 5 or 6 years they've been around.
