so how are the teams looking after the first two weeks? any suprises or disappointments?

Westmoreland isnt playing as good as I thought they would.

 

SmithCo. is a little better than I thought.

 

Dont know squat about York.

 

Upperman is the surprise to me I thought they would be scoring 35 a game not giving it up.

 

Jackson County doesnt apppear much different.

 

Cannon may be on the way up it will just take a while.

 

 

So, after the first couple of games my prediction is:

 

1. Carthage

2. York

3. Westmoreland

 

thats all that goes to playoffs this year so alot could be decided this week.

Upperman seems to be dissapointing so far, Smith is strong as usual. Westmoreland is down a little this year. Cannon has improved from what everyone is saying and they did beat sequatchie Co. friday. Jackson is the only team i can't really say anything about.

Everyone pretty much has a line on everybody in the region, except York. They seem to be the unknown quantity up to this point. They hung a lot of points on a usually pretty good Coalfield. They are tough to play up there, that's for sure.

I agree......York seems to be the unknown factor.....today amyway.

Smith Co. is strong as usual and better than most predicted.

Westmoreland appears to be down a little futher than most thought.

Right now Upperman don't look like they can stop anybody.I think most predicted them to have a very good offense....but that hasn't happened yet either.

 

Right now (and there is still a lot of ball to play) it looks like Upperman-Westmoreland loser could be on the outside looking in.........But there hasn't been a region game played yet.........With 3 going to the playoffs instead of 4...each region game is huge........

I'm glad everybody thinks Westmoreland is so down. Only time will tell. If the Refs will let us play from here on out we should get better every week and I believe the Region Championship game will be played at Carthage in mid Oct. WHS and Macon game is one hard fought game and is hard to predict year end and year out. SC is better than I thought they would be. This may be one of the best SC teams ever. I'm sure most SC fans thought our 06 team wouldn't very good after a loss to MC and Gordonsville who Smith handled pretty easy in O6 but we were better than was anticipated. Don't look at the scores of our first two games and judge us. We are talented but are still going thru growing pains of being so young. Remember we have only 5 players that started last year back this year. 1 on defense and 4 on offense. Any team that does that goes thru early season growing pains.

Hold up there Singy.....you and that other Moanite (postal in nature) built up the Eagles starting in the spring (weight lifts-40Xs college prospects etc). And they are the defending region champs...right...ya'll hadn't let anyone forget that. Could it be that ya'll had something to do with high expectations, and now are having a hard time living up to them? Beaten soundly by DCA ...struggling with MC..and pointing at the refs as the reason ....what are people supposed to think?? I think some people (myself included) though they would be down because they lost a ton of seniors...........Now you are agreeing with us?

We all know that Westmoreland has beaten Smith Co. more than Smith Co. has beaten Westmoreland. The question is, has York ever beaten Westmoreland? Well, I guess there is always a first time for everything according to bigreid, who by the way was spanked by Motown his senior year. I wouldnt like Westmoreland much either if I were you bigreid. I thought you were one of the ones picking Upperman over Westmoreland in the region early on?
