Yeah Quit Crying Thats what we should all do is sit down and be quite that would make it all better.Sometimes hearing the truth helps.07 as for the issue 0f 2 being dismissed we don't send speeders to the DEATH PENALTY see Jake Ryan West-Dennis Freeny Fulton and the the list goes on the kid should have been suspended but not dismissed I think in the last 6years we have dismissed 1 player maybe after his 2nd or 3rd arrest. And tell me about the QB being on probation.

Oh, I believe you know what I am talking about. Maybe I should say WR instead of QB though.......

How many unwise choices should we allow. These kids will be out on their own in 1 to 2 years, and it is up to parents and coaches to direct them in the right direction, so that they can may wise choices. When parents don't parent coaches have to.

qbsdad-How many times could you get by with saying bad things to your boss, especially in front of other employees? If you want to keep your job then not more than once. The deal with Ryan and Freeny is not near the issues as what has happened numerous times. Would there ever be a time when the kid is not given one more chance? When is the stopping point? He was probably a great kid, but there has to be a time when enough is enough. So basically your sometimes hearing the truth helps comment is some advice you yourself should take. Football is one of the things that build young men for the future. Hard work, dedication, commitment to team, and discipline. Just like in the real world of life, when one must work, to pay bills, and support his family and himself. If they cannot keep control of themselves as Juniors and Seniors, then they will have a hard time keeping jobs, going and finishing college, raising a family, and respecting the rules of life.

Great points QuitCrying; football is way more than a game played on Friday nights, and that is what makes it so great. For some of these kids, and yes they are still kids, football is the only place where these boys have a male figure that encourages them and gives feedback(both positive and negative). Not to sound mushy or anything, but the reason young men put up with the heat, pain, and other bad parts of football is because of the brotherly and fatherly love that they receive from the team and coaches. That being said, all teams know of players that need the team more than the team needs the kid...in other words, the team keeps the kid from being in trouble that they would otherwise be in. However, just in all parts of life, there are those forget the blessing of the team and cause problems in the fieldhouse, either by doing the wrong thing on the weekend or by being disrespectful in the fieldhouse to players and coaches, or whatever. I have no idea what the reason was for the dismissal of #2, and I would bet not anyone other than the coaches and the player know the actual reason. I do believe that the staff would have tried other ways before the dismissal, if for the child more than for the team. As I stated earlier in this topic, do not lose hope in the Hornets, I feel that they are going to be a team that gets hot when all of their gears are hitting.

As a note to qbsdad, I think Solomon was mentioning that #11 was not allowed to play in the game against Bearden. That was not a decision the coaches made however, that was a result of his being thrown out of the playoff game. The TSSAA rule is that if a player is thrown out of a game they are banned from the next game, whenever that may be played. For #11, it carried over to the fall.

Seems like this is a big week for the boys in green. Win against a region opponent, build some confidence, and establish that they're still the team to beat in the region. Lose and it's a tough row to hoe - probably still make the playoffs but with a tough, tough matchup. I hope to make it to this game.

By the way, where's the splainshornet this year?

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
