Carter @ Seymour

This game is between the two teams that have been on the top of the Region for the past two years. Seymour is coming off of a loss to their in-county rival Sevier County; the Eagles have a record of 4-1. Carter comes into the game with a 3-3 record, but with a big win against 5A Karns. Carter has edged Seymour the past two years with a combined score of 62-0, but everyone can say that this year's Seymour team is the best Eagle team Carter has faced. In last year's game the frustrations of the Seymour players was seen in an uncharacteristic boil-over of emotions. The incident was so big that in this year's preview on Channel 8, the Seymour coaches and players talked all about keeping their emotions in check and not playing Carter's game; showing that this is THE game for the Eagles. Should be a great game, let's have some chatter on this one.

As in every Carter and Seymour sporting events I believe tempers will be flaring. I believe the key to winning this game is which team is more disciplined. Thus far Carter has lost to Bearden, AE, and South Doyle, but they have also blown out Claiborne, P.F., and won a defensive battle against Karns. Seymour has beaten Heritage, Cocke Co, SD, and Rutledge, but lost to Sevier Co last friday. I believe both teams are similar in talent, but I believe emotions will get the best of some players on both teams. I hope for a clean, but exciting game friday. My prediction is Carter-28 Seymour-21

This should be a great high school football game 2 great football communities. The biggest difference that I see in Carter now versus early in the year is that Carter players seem to be playing with a lot more emotion and enthusiasm. As for my take on this game I think it will come down to the last couple of possessions and Carter will win with speed. My prediction Carter 18 Seymour (yes Seymour finally scores this year)17.GO HORNETS!!!!!!

Both teams have played South Doyle with Carter losing and Seymour winning. Both close games as I recall. Also seems that South Doyle had some players available vs, Carter that were subsequently injured when Seymour and South Doyle played. Should be a close game. This group of Seymour SRs has been pretty competitive since their youth ball days, and I think they might just pull this one out. They need to regroup after the Sevier Co. loss. I really felt that with all that Seveir lost, this might have been Seymour's year. I have heard through the grapevine that Carter seems to be playing better the PF game, but I would not put too much value in the Karns win.

seymour will have to come out ready to play from the start. if they come out strong and stay focused on the game (not losing their tempers)i think seymour will take the win. should be a fun game. these schools have a lot of bad blood between them, tempers may fly. ill have to say SEYMOUR 21 CARTER 14. Assuming they will play better than last week.

FormerPlayer, I hope that you are only posting to give some locker room material to the Carter players, 31-7? Carter has been blown out by two teams this year, Bearden and AE...both of those teams would blow out Seymour as well. Seymour has the ability to win this game, especially on the field named after the head coach...but if they win it will not be by 3 TDs, I think. I am going to hang on with my prediction, but I can assure you it will not be a blow out, by either team.

Actually it's Benton Householder Field, not Gary Householder. Pretty sure they're related but not totally sure.

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
