Any information, throw it out there. I understand Daniel Boone and David Crockett are apt to move up from 4A to 5A. Anybody else know of moves up or down in any part of the state?

If Anderson County and Seymour's numbers stay the same or increase, they will probably be going to 4A. Fulton is also near the limit for 3A.

David Crockett is already at 5A enrollment. They petitioned the TSSAA to let them remain at the 4A level back at the reclassification in fall of 2004.

According to TSSAA's website Crockett exceeded the limit to play in 4A back in '04. I thought teams were only allowed to either play in their right classification or play up? Do you think it was due to travel expenses or because they haven't been competitive at the 4A level?

You can elect to play up, but you must petition the TSSAA to play down.

I'm sure it was competition. That was back in the midst of their long, long losing streak.

The cut off number is not not a cut off number. If there are 320 schools that play FB they divide it by 5 (classifications) and thats how it is done. It is very fluid as oppose to the old fix number system that led to very unequal numbers in each classification due to growth, consolidation or communities losing population as well.

Crockett's growth was due to an alternative learning program that represented students from 3 HS as well as students from Johnson City and other counties that were not eligible to play sports. They may still be 5A next time but that was what the petition was about last time.
