Knox West @ Maryville

West always finds ways to make big mistakes in big games. Been a problem for years @ West. Wasn't surprised to see M'ville put up 28 in 1st half - West "D" isn't good. I believe they have allowed 30 or more in 4 of their 7 games. Too bad that there "d" isn't any beter b/c they have a pretty good "O". West will be out of the playoffs after second round at the latest - I'd like to see them go farther but doubt it happens.

um will west even make the playoffs /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Good point. West can't stop a parked car. Offense is pretty good but not good enough to protect a very porous defense. This is the way I see the play off picture.

1 Maryville of course. Unless Halls can pull off the near impossible and defeat the Rebels. They were the last Region team to defeat the mighty Rebels.

2. Central. West nor Powell will defeat the Bobcats

3. Halls or Powell winner of the game tonight fits here. I think it will be Halls.

4. Powell or West The winner of the Powell West game will go here. I think it will be Powell.

Like in the fourth quarter? when Douglas, Burnette, and Clement just to name a few were in the game??

Did I say, "Douglas, Burnett, and Clement didn't play in the fourth quarter." No! I said Maryville played a lot of players after they got a comfortable lead. Which they ususally do.

Also, Pat Ryan said that West gave Maryville their best game of the year. Sorry Pat, this honor goes to WB.

I'm not sure that I was watching the same game as the previous two posters here...or then again my opinion may have been skewed a little because I only got to see half the game. The down side of having a beautiful girlfriend is that it costs me twice as much to go to the game and I only get to see half as much football. She got "too cold" to stay shortly after halftime, so I only saw the first half.

Having said that, Maryville was dominant. Even without the freaky punt return (which was amazing and Tyler Maples-eque), Maryville was dominant. They scored at will and West only looked competitive in stopping them in short yardage situations, but we all knew Maryville's run game was down this year.

There were multiple times when the MHS defense had West moving the wrong direction down the field.

From my perspective, if you take away one great offensive play by West, that game is a shut out.

PaPa I am glad you got a hot girl friend, but you must have been looking at her more than at the game. Maryville excuted better, played better and did not have any turnovers. West I thought was pretty tough at different times in the game. Like the first drive. WHS we shoving MHS off the ball and if the RB had not laid the skin on the carpet it would have been 7-zip, West IMO. I don't think we laid a mit on Ryan until well after he had thrown down field. I also can't understand why west spottped running the ball.

Good win for the MHS Reb's but the front 7 on D simply need to play better. On O we passed all we wanted too. But running we still lack that quick back who can hit the hole hard.

Good win and we will take it, but it was not Maryville's best game this season so far.

Glad you played Thursday and didn't conflict with OR-WB. We didn't have a problem finding a seat on the visitors side. I enjoyed the game but it never seemed to be in question. 28-7 at the half. West did a good job keeping maryvilles run game in check but was unable to stop the pass. On west first possesion they were driving by running the ball but QB fumbled and thats all it took. Maryvilles offense put west in a catch-up mode from there. West 1st score was on a little dump pass to TE who showed some wheels out running the maryville secondary about 70 yds. for TD. The maryville punt return was like taking an onside kick for a TD. Maryvilles scoring drive with about a minute to go in the half was textbook. I left when maryville scored on a long drive to make it 35-14 in the 4th. Central-west is an important game for both!

West and Powell might not beat Central but S.D. ...........

Second through Fourth is wide open now.

how about the touchdown where your reciever was two yards out of bounds? how about that call? GREAT CATCH. Amazing. not taking that away. but he was out of bounds. and how about that onside kick. or should i say kicks where the kicker gave it an extra nudge about 7 yards down the field? oh and the 3 or 4 pass interference no calls where shiver got tackled from behind before he had a chance to catch the ball... not the refs fault man... sorry

I'm not as sure about the touchdown.(although it looked in from where I was definitely not 2 or 3 yards out. But the onside kick I know for a fact that it went over 10 yds cause i saw it cross that point and go over about a foot before Thompson jumped on it. Sure there were a few interference calls not called on West, but on very very key 4th downs they gave Maryville spots way beyond what they got. Maryville's stands being a lot closer obviously allows you to see things like this a lot more clearly which makes me wonder if all high school games are that badly reffed. By the way Maryville's student section stunk, they barely made any noise even when it was close and had the most pathetic field rushing I've ever seen.

You can't seriously say that without a doubt neither Powell nor West will beat Central. Remember West was the team that lost to once defeated Bearden in the last seconds, and in my opinion played a heck of a lot better than any other 3-4A team against Maryville so far. I still think that West is better than Halls. West was winning by close to 20, and let them come back. This picture will be a lot clearer two weeks from tonight.

Shocking victory by the Kees. Central now may be the odd man out.

Maryville is in n o doubt.

Halls is in with a win over L.C. anywhere from 2 to 4

West, Central, and Powell are also in the picture.

If my Bobcats don't get it together Powell will defeat them Friday. S.D. took away some of the stigma associated with Central. They are now beatable to the rest of the Region.

S.D gave away to many early and I don't think they can recover to make the play offs.
