CSAS has a very diverse student population. Just come by one day and you will see.

So does the public school down the street. What makes CSAS stand out?

Porter Roberts-Purdue, George Hudgins-Drexel, Carlos Clark-Holy Cross, Moses Lindsey-Okaloosa-Walton/Walters State, Kenny Mobley-Roane State/St. Angelos St., Justin Cambric-Roane State, Javan Martin-Lee/Milligan, Zach Dragoo-UTC, James Chapman-King College/Bluefield, Rodney Marsh-Hiwassee, Martell Powell-Bluefield. That is eleven who played college basketball in 17 years and I am sure there are some more that I can dig up if you want me too. They also have at least 3 seniors this year that will play college basketball. I would say that record is better than any other team in Chattanooga over Dragoo's tenure.

CSAS has definitely always had plenty of talent.

CSAS embraces their diversity and it is one of the goals of the school. The students population numbers are supposed to mirror those of Chattanooga. No other public schools put such an emphasis on it.

So it's possible to be denied entry to the school because of your race, if they already have enough of your type?

This many college basketball players coming thru in 17 years and zero titles, and only two state basketball appearances. I take back what I said about Grace. They've done that much with less talent.

They have been one of the smallest AA schools most of those years('92-'05). They have been A 5 years and have two state runner-ups('89-'91,'05-present).

I have never been a player for any team. with that said, and you seem to know everything about that school(i'm assuming you went there) i'd like to ask where any of the coaching staff of "former players" went to college on a basketball scholarship and oh yeah... his son doesn't count.

you digressed from my question... where is/are his players playing college ball? good coachs not only win but promote players to the next level of the game. where are those players?

Yeah I went there and played for Dragoo for 4 years, so yes I know quite a bit about the school. To answer your question about promoting kids to the next level. Here are some more stats that are bigger than basketball. Dragoo also hass former players that are teachers/coaches, a starting a district point guard who is now a journalist for USA TODAY, a starting shooting guard who is a teacher/coach, a 6th man from the 98 sub state team who is an engineer, a significant post player from the 91 state runner up team who is a lawyer... So no Dragoo hasnt won a state championship, but there arent many coaches who can say they can. Compare Dragoo's players graduation rates to some state championship coaches from the area(I could name names but im not going to go there) and see who has the highest numbers

Arts was in the old District 4-A before the district was split and they moved up in the '97-'98 school year, making them one of the largest single A schools in this area. As I said, alot of talent but not much in terms of results.

very impressive roster, but i would think that a team like brainerd, mccallie, and others are just as comparable, if not better (for players going to college to play).

btw....i played against moses lindsey. i thought he went to purdue.

The student population of CSAS is reflective of the city of Chattanooga. You will find at CSAS approximately 60% white students, 30% black, and 10% other. We also represent all major religions, political thought, etc. in both our student body, faculty, staff, and administration. The student racial makeup is by design.

Brainerd has underachieved in terms of sending kids to college Brainerd was one of the most talented basketball programs in the state from the early 80's-late 90's. Porter went to Purdue he was the starting point guard the years Glen Robinson was there Moses had plenty of D-1 offers but he played JUCO. he was a beast though I was a freshman his senior year I hated practicing against him

    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
    • Interesting how quite it is. Rumors are going around that Anderson County is being looked at by TSSAA for recruiting violations with the Campbell County transfers.
    • I heard from a member of the teaching staff that there has been a dispute over use of the game field between football, and girls lacrosse team. Girls had a game and wanted to warm up and football coaches did want to leave. The football coaches came down hard with some bad vulgar language and the girls lacrosse backed down. What a classy act BHS athletics has become.
    • The lawsuit requests a jury trial. Sable Winfree has extremely competent legal representation. FYI - her lawyer represented the Warren County school system for years, and I believe he knows what constitutes a reasonable lawsuit.
