Since when does Ryan throw late hits and play dirty tricks in the pile?........... Is this good enough english for you Ole Dad because i am trying to sound like a gentleman scholar athlete, or a ###### white man whichever you can take your pick.- BIG PLAY 73

get a clue "73", you may want to read your post again. sounds like disrespect to old dad to me and a slight bit of anger. hope you can muster up more than that on friday.

HMMMM.....

year before that mba-won football, split basketball, won soccer in regular season, wrestling, won 2 in baseball

father ryan-won basketball, put mba out in soccer, took 1 in baseball

SOOOOO????

sounds like the rivalry is still on

oh and another irish "team" has never lost to mba

jp2 is no where close. only reason it could be thought of was because of golden tate. what are they now without him? NOTHING

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT IS SENIOR'S NIGHT AND FOR ALL THE IRISH SENIORS THAT HAVE MADE IT THROUGH THE 4 YEARS OF BS THAT THE ADMINISTRATION PUTS THEM THROUGH, THEY ARE READY FOR IT

GO IRISH WHOOP SOME MBA ###

I believe this is about football (which Mba has beaten Ryan almost dominately throughout the last 10 years) not golf or baseball. Classy name by the way.

Hey did you know Ryan has dominated MBA in golf/baseball/basketball/wrestling/soccer in the past 10 years?

Oh wait, this thread is about correcting other's mistakes.

I agree that Ryan has been very good in a lot of sports over the years...which is why it makes no sense to me that Kurt Page was constantly whining and crying all the time about not having enough money to compete with MBA, BA, etc., and that money was the reason the football program was so bad. If Ryan can be successful in other sports, what's the difference with football?

The coaching, I'd say. Jemison was a great guy but struggled as a coach. As you can see, Lussier has turned things around very quickly. Lussier has kept the score between MBA-Ryan by 7 points each time he has played them.

But really, saying that you beat Father Ryan in the past 5-10 years in football isnt saying much based on how poorly the program has been since.

On the game friday, I truly expect the difference between scores will be 7 points. At least, that seems to be the way Lussier keeps it. Third time is a charm, though ; )

In football it takes more athletes to win than in most of the other sports. Father Ryan won a state championship in football with Kurt Page as the head coach and Page had also won a state title at BGA before going to Father Ryan, so what makes you feel that Kurt forgot how to coach? Good athletes make great coaches and Father Ryan had a down cycle where they had some good athletes but not enough to make a difference. They seem to have a good number of athletes in the school now but what will they have in two or three years?

I know football is not a transitive sport. (i.e. UT beat Georgia, Bama lost to Georgia, therefore UT is better than Bama), but I am not especially not impressed by Father Ryan's 35-0 win over JPII. Don't get me wrong this is a thrashing, but MBA put up 56 points even with their backups going in early in the second half. This will be one heck of a game to watch because it is usually close, but I got to go with MBA slowly wearing down the Father Ryan team with pounding the ball on offense and their ridiculous play on defense.

Haha, wow i really hope you are not serious. Father Ryan also had thier back ups in early in the 2nd half of the JPII game.

So by say in it is USUALLY a good game to watch, are you saying that this will not be a good game to watch this year?

Also, how can you honestly say that MBA will wear down the Father Ryan team? They have to be in good shape to be 8-0, don't you think??

I'm gonna say this now, because no one has said it yet but #2 on the MBA defense is the most over rated player i have ever seen play.

How would MBA have a larger pool of athletes to select from over Ryan in the past years? Just a question.

To me, its always been about family and politics.

I do believe that MBA has an advantage over Father Ryan when it comes to getting athletes. Just because a kid goes through the parochial school system doesn't mean he's gonna end up at Ryan. Add the fact that now parents know Father Ryan isn't what it used to be academically(you cannot fire some of your best teachers). Plus, even though most of it isn't the schools fault, but what about athletes that have been dismissed from the school?

Look at your team for example. Current players such as Spencer Wise, Wilson Nealy, Patrick Crum- all from parochial schools. And those are just a few. There are many players from the past as well. Think of the athletes that have gone to JPII. What if Ryan had Golden Tate, Alvin Ingle, Wesley Tate, Courtney Coffee, Gershom Jordan, Brian Sneed? Would they not have played with and/or beaten MBA a few times?? I am not saying that Ryan hasn't had the athletes, they did, such as Mike Hausman, Ernie Owusu, Corey Stewart, Aaron Bateman, Chris Hohl, etc. But throw those JPII players in and we win. Just think about that next time.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
