FIRST HALF plowboy...he was 5-5 in the first half...that stat was included in a sentence that also had Sensabaugh with 10 carries for 72 yards and Taylor with 34 yards on 5 carries...read before you complain....he was 6-8 for the game...Roop 0-1...that is why the team had 6-9...read and quit looking to hang the kid...unbelievable!

Oh my fault. That comma looks like a period in the sentence. And it looked like the punt returnman had the ball, was spun around and the ball knocked out of his hand.

Very sad display of sportsmanship by Campbell County tonight. CC players kept trying to pick fights with DB on the field all night. Their coaching staff went wild after every penitly called against them. Then to top it all off the police had to be called to the Campbell County sideline to protect their head coach from their own fans. DURING THE GAME! Unreal.

DB won by the way: 38 - 3

No dog in this fight...however, Coach Wells is not known in this area for being a class act. He was an embarrassment to his team in a scrimmage this spring against Halls. IMO, a bad example for his coaching staff and his players. (Apparently displayed by both tonight.) However, in his defense, the parents (some of them) expect the coaching staffs (both football and especially basketball) to adhere to their wishes and play little Johnny no matter if little Johnny is the best player or not. (Ask Mr. Lynn Pierce, former basketball coach at CCHS!). This doesn't surprise me about the police escort. Now, all that being said, CCHS has tremendous athletes walking the halls of their school. Some of which do not even come out to play sports because of the politics involved. Sad to see. CCHS used to be a powerhouse in basketball. So much potential there. I hate it for the kids. Hopefully, one day, this will change. Good luck, Cougars. We wish the kids well, regardless. Thanks for listening, WaCo.

Most kids in the halls at CC do not play because the coaches usually play the "buddies" kids. W/L record aside. As long as the coaches get a .50 W/L theyiran keep theri job forever. Look at he W/L record of the sports at CC over the years. The basketball thing was over administration politics, not the kids. If it wasn't then the basketball coach would have been gone long before looking at his record. Good guy just the game passed him by. Kids are all innocent bystanders trying to have the same high school experience as others in the other counties.

Was at the DB game as was impressed with the WHOLE team and the numbers you guys get. Watch out 'cause your band can upstage the FB team at anytime. Your facilities are great also. I hope everyone there appreciates how the community gets involved with supporting your programs there. EVERYONE will always gripe about a win. Just don't look a gift horse inthe mouth. Don't look over the fence, you guys may have some minor problems but with your schools overall W/L record in school history someone is doing something right there with the program.

And that pass to #10 was a pass interference call, what is your problem? I can't imagine how you acted when our team lost three straight games because all you do is complain when we win. Why would we move our best reciever to QB when our QB has been producing like crazy?

Don't disagree with what you're saying 'bout coach being good guy, game just passed him by. However, insider says parent tried to dictate to coach about little Johnny's playing time, position played. Forced coach to take a stand. Coach lost job. Must respect coach for sticking to his guns, though at CC. Would love to see successful programs in football and basketball @ CC. The year the Johnson boy did so well, seemed like the whole community's

attitudes and even their general dispositions were very positive and noticable. It was good to see.

Can any CC people explain the cougar players on the DB sideline during warmups? I guess they were tyring to get pumped up and let DB understand they were not intimidated? I think it back fired...kinda like poking a stick at a hornet's nest /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Ok, the team did not mean to be over on the DB side line.. where ever the ball is kicked the team goes, it happened to go to that side, and the crap everyone is saying about the coaching staff is non sence, the ref brought a police officer over there because i DB fan was threating the coaching staff.. Coach Wells has the up most resecpt for DB and the staff, maybe becuase they are the only team that dont look over us! But i think DB just has to much talent for us.. We could match up with them in the skill positions but not up front.. I hate to see people talk bad about this campbell county team, they play there hearts out every game! and i thats how they are taught to play. and the players that are playing.. thoses are the best they have in the school.. i just hope we can re-group and get a win against karns and get in the PLAYOFFS! GO COUGARS and good luck to Db in the playoffs

According to the Kingsport Police Dept. a Campbell Co. fan made threats to the coaching staff of Campbell Co. A police officer was called to the sideline to calm things down. No DB fans were involved. But thanks for the other kind words, and good luck to Campbell Co.

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
