is there a good team in kentucky? the burros disposed of quite a few at WKU this summer...

There must be one or two good schools in Kentucky. Maybe that is why as a state Tennessee and Kentucky split 8-8 this year. Last time I checked there were no regular season wins by the burros against a Kentucky school this season through week 10. Summer passing league and camp scores don't count in the standings.

Maybe you should check the results of the KY vs. TN HS Football All Star game from June also.

TN won the overall series 15-9. However, KY won 6 of the last 8 games. The series held over the last 24 years ended following the TN loss in June. TN wanted the game moved to December, but Kentucky did not want their athletes to miss school for the game. KY even offered to pay all of the TN team expenses to continue the series but the TN Athletic Coaches Association rejected the proposal. /sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />

I have no idea what happened after he yawned. Did it cause someone else to yawn? Maybe he was yawning because he was reading one of your posts that sounds the same as all of your other posts regardless of who you are playing. And when Maplewood loses, this week or next, let me be the first to yawn at you complaining about the officials

Kenwood trails at halftime

By JIMMY TRODGLEN

The Leaf-Chronicle

NASHVILLE — Kenwood trails Maplewood 10-6 at halftime in the opening round of the 4A state football playoffs.

Kenwood had two first-half turnovers, the second leading to a field goal.

Kenwood took a 6-0 lead with 5:26 left in the first quarter when Amius Smith connected with his brother, Demarius Smith, on a third and 26 from the Knights’ 43-yard line. Demarius Smith worked his way behind the Panthers’ secondary, and caught a wide open touchdown pass. The extra point failed.

Maplewood answered on the following drive when quarterback Chris Simpson broke loose for a 56-yard run, and then connected with Marcus Bowins on a 16-yard touchdown toss two plays later.

Maplewood added a 22-yard field goal from Dominique Howard with 1:17 left before halftime.

Kenwood drove from its 33 to the Panthers’ 4-yard line in the final 77 seconds of the half. A third down pass from Smith to Joe Harris was caught at the 4 with 1.7 seconds, but time ran out before the Knights could snap the ball.

Bias refs? (or bais as you called them, thank you maplewood education). To see bias you need only to look in your mirror.

p.s. tell athomp54 we miss him on the boards.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
