Looking for some info on Eagleville. We are looking to move back to Tennessee (Nashville area) by next year and I have two sons that are outstanding Football players. My oldest (12) is a QB. on the 8th grade team here in Michigan. Our school is the size of one of your Bigger 2A schools. I want to live in a small Tennessee town. Any thoughts on Eagleville? Forrest? Any others? Info would be appreciated.

If you are looking for a great school/athletic program/community. you shold look towards Wartrace/Bell Buckle. Cascade has a lot to offer. the football team is actually still in the playoffs

Flatt, mr. backstabber...I mean living legend.....I would be very careful about this hire for what is a truly public school in Eagleville. He won't be able to stand it in a non-recruitment mode. Be very careful. I can already see someone from like Oakland suddenly "moving" to Eagleville to take advantage of blah blah blah....Flatt please pack it in

Good to see you, you should post more!

To the poster moving, chosing between the two is pretty much a win win situation as they are both great communities. I live in Murfreesboro and my son who is not school age lives in the Eagleville school district with his mother. The schools in Eagleville are excellent and I would much rather have him go there then a school here. The Eagleville program is fairly new, and like GoForTheGoal said, coach Scharsh has done a great job building a program their. If they do get Carlton Flatt, and since you have lived in this area you probably know the name, but he is a highly thought of coach. Kind of like "Ed Henry" in remember the Titans lol.

Wow, thanks for the several replies to my inquiry. Great people of the great state of Tennessee. Miss it down there terribly!

We lived in Grainger County in East Tennessee when we resided there. I know a little about the central part of the state, but not a lot. Obviously, I'm trying to research it. It would be the area we would be coming back to. I have not heard of the Woodbury area. Which school district would that be?

Also, thanks for the info on Forrest. I heard they are growing. Also, nothing wrong with recruiting. I want what is the best situation for my boys with the community, church, academics and of course, athletics. A good baseball program as well as football would be huge. I'm up for any more info..........

You should move to the Mt. Pleasant area. If you are looking for really good football and want to go to a public school Mt. Pleasant is the perfect fit. We are building a winning tradition with 50 wins in the last 5 years. We have been to the playoff each year and have been to the 3rd round 2 times and the 4th round last year. We are in the second round at this point this year. We are in the process of building a new fieldhouse so the facilities should be top notch. We are small town but have larger town's in short driving distance.

You mean they have football in Michigan? I thought Appalachian state took care of that. lol Just kidding. We do have a magnet middle school in Mt.Pleasant. We should have a very good baseball team over the next few years also.

Forrest can also brag of having one of its graduates become a Rhodes scholar. Not too many small public schools can say the same.

Burns is a great place to live with just around 1,500 people and virtually no crime whatsoever. The kids in Burns go to Dickson County which is a 5-a school so you can get the small town life and your kids can go to a 5-a school. Also, DC plays in one of the best regions in the state. By the way, Dickson only has about 12,000 people.

When you all get through recruiting a kid that supposedly is a "good" QB, maybe you can answer the post. Is Flatt gonna coach small ball or go after one of the bigger fish?

not enough prestige in 1a for Flatt, hey people dont you know by now if youre not a private or 5a you dont get any ( prestige that is ) Flatt at Eagleville will never happen !!!!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
