Bolivar at David Lipscomb

Recommended Posts

BC you may not be giving DL enough credit in this one, altho I know Coach Mac doesnt roll up big scores on anyone. Yes the Tigers seem to have improved in the playoffs but those teams werent DL !!

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? Are you a little slow?? He could not have made that any easier to understand that DL was going to win the championship! Or are you being sarcastic??

I'm going with Bolivar in a close 28 - 21 Victory. Playing the hard teams helped them get this far. (Dyersburg, Southside, and even McNairy Central). Also good luck to Haywood against Mitchell!!!! I would like to see a Bolivar-Haywood Match up.

I have to give a major advantage to David Lipscomb in this one based on playoff experience. In particular, this game will be played the week of Thanksgiving. David Lipscomb has done this many times before. I am sure they have a set Thanksgiving week practice routine...how to handle time off from school, what time to practice on Thursday, how to remain focused, etc...

Having said that, I think Bolivar will be more competition than they have seen this year with the exception possibly of Goodpasture. Bolivar has a tough, physcial football team. Their O-line is big and experienced and their fullback goes 250lbs while the tailback is 230lbs. They will run the ball downhill. Defensively they are not sound, but have great athletes that will play with a ton of effort.

David Lipscomb has an offensive machine. They put pressure on most teams by making them feel like they have to score a lot of points. Jeremy Holt is explosive. Rogers is a threat on the outside and on returns. Simpson does a good job at quarterback. David Lipscomb's defense is very good. The are very fast up front and get bunches of people to the ball. However, I think their weakness is exploited when teams run the ball right at them and that is Bolivar's strength.

I think Bolivar's offense will be able to run the ball on DL. If they don't turn the ball over and don't give up quick touchdowns, the Tigers have a chance. I don't think Bolivar is disciplined enough to stop DL wing-t offense. DL will put up at least 21pts even if Bolivar makes them take a lot of snaps. Bolivar's goal should be to run the ball and run the clock.

A couple of questions, before I pick the winner:

1.) What is the status of Davis for David Lipscomb? I like Rogers getting to touch the ball at running back, but he is an automatic touchdown when lined up out wide.

2.) Has Bolivar played any wing-t teams this year? There is no way to prepare for DL execution in one week!

ANSWER TO BOTH YOUR ?? = NO!! I CLEARLY AGREED WITH BIG COUNRTY. DL does have too much for Bolivar !!! Im not sure DL wins state championship as many things may or may not happen on the road to the BORO. Neither he you nor I know who will win the Gold Ball . Somebody slap me quick.....are there that many delusional fans that think DL will lose this one?

Guys....they haven't even been really challenged yet in 3a. By the this game might be 35-7 like the restof them have or 35-14.

But keep up the good thoughts ...that's all you will have

Region 6 is going down AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been trying to find information on Bolivar Central on the internet and the newspapers. Its hard to believe that there is so little out there considering they are a team that is playing in the quarterfinal game in the TSSAA Playoffs. The School Site was virtually empty of any decent information. No team pictures, listing of coaches, stats. However, we were still able to build a Bolivar Central page in our Scouting Report section of The Mustangfanpage.

We will announce when Peter Powell's Lipscomb Game Day Notes featuring the Tigers and the Mustangs have been posted. Stay tuned.

If anybody knows where we can get a team picture online or some other info on them please let us know.

You'd probably get more info on Bolivar if it were basketball.

I think they only played nine regular season games because of scheduling conflicts. I think maybe Liberty Tech moving out of their region messed up their schedule. Also, I think they scheduled some of their games on Thursday nights to try and boost attendance. They have mainly been known as a basketball school (state champs two years in row, Wayne Chism, Willie Kemp, etc...) but football has really become respectable the last two years.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
