rollwave
Any of you guys know Dewayne Sherlin or Shane Brown? Both played on the 1989 state championship team.Dewayne was very athletic. He is back in Gallatin coaching some youth football and baseball. Shane would knock your teeth out. He is in Gallatin and I believe he is working for a local home builder. wai652231
recently the two Ingham boys have been standout kickers in the region if not across the state. If i remember right the older one holds the fg record and is playing college ball. The younger boy had a solid senior year and will probably be playing on saturdays. BarronsBoy
In 1978 or 79 when Gallatin won the state it seems in the semifinal game they were down and had to punt and the returner touched the ball or fumbled it and Gallatin recovered. At the time there seemed to be the feeling that there was some controversy over it.I was in grade school,so I never got the specifics.Does anyone know what happened. Also, does anyone know what happened to Jeremy McMurry his sr. year that caused him not to start at t.b.? There were no controversial plays in the Green Wave's 1978 AAA State Championship season. Gallatin routed a talented Memphis Carver team in the semi-finals game. GWAVE1
There were no controversial plays in the Green Wave's 1978 AAA State Championship season. Gallatin routed a talented Memphis Carver team in the semi-finals game. Could have been the quarterfinal game against Maplewood. Gallatin was leading 14-13 with under a minute remaining and kicked a short kick to prevent a run back. Maplewood attempted a 42 yard kick for the win but it was short. Gallatin caught the kick then fumbled it and then recovered the fumble to seal the win. McMurry was injured most of his senior season. He also played some on defense his senior year. CoachT
Wasn't Robert Lassiter a pretty good QB there in the late 60s?
GWAVE1
Wasn't Robert Lassiter a pretty good QB there in the late 60s? Yep. Robert Lassiter was the QB in 66',67', and 68'. They went 3-8, 5-4-1, and 10-1 during that span. His senior year he ran for around 900 yards and threw for almost 900. He helped Gallatin win the North Central Conference championship in 68'. He also played some defense and went to U of Tenneessee and played in college. He was one of the better Qb's that came out of Gallatin at that time. Jeremy McMurry did play TB his senior season. Anyone who attended the state semifinal during his junior season at Henry County may remember a sideline tackle as Jeremy swept the right side. There are few bone-crushing blows I’ve seen like that in a high school game. He took a helmet and shoulder to the hip with both athletes at full speed. Jeremy was never the same tailback after that hit.
