Sounds like BCB is taking his own advice and stirring the pot a bit before the duals. If Ryan does this badly against the red machine, the score might be worse than the Baylor/McCallie match. Think it will be a little closer than this, but no question every Irish wrestler must wrestle hard to the end to compete with these guys.

heck of a meet, coming down to the last match!!!!

I tried to be as conservative as possible with falls, but there are bound to be a couple on either side.

Probably a swing of several points at 171 since Shuford (Sr) should be there. Even if it's Helton, he is very talented and able to stay off his back.

Hopefully both teams will make it to the finals and we'll get to see.

BCB: Here are your picks from the previous "D-II Outlook" thread where the discussion turned to a Ryan v. Baylor matchup in the finals:

103 Johnny Maurizi vs Zack Watson.....................Watson pin 6-0

112 Anthony Simpson vs Alex Manley.................. Manley pin 12-0

119 Chaz Griffith vs Stuart Doster....................... Doster maj 16-0

125 Matt Brewer vs Mr Whitaker.......................... Mr Whitaker pin 22-0

130 Nick Bateman Vs Cole Hayes....................... Hayes pin 28-0

135 Cody Austell vs Trey Stavrum...................... Stavrum dec 31-0

140 Dustin Hussey vs Chance Hayes................... Hayes pin 37-0

145 Patrick Marchetti vs Adam Shuford............... Marchetti dec 37-3

152 Matt Lawrence vs Colton Popp..................... Popp maj 41-3

160 Ryne Miller vs Wesley Idellett...................... Idellett dec 44-3

171 Michael Goodrum vs David Helton................ Goodrum dec 44-6

189 Mix vs John Mackey.................................... Mix pin vs Mackey 44-11... Green dec 47-6

215 Clanton vs Joe Scott................................. ..Clanton dec 44-14.....47-9

285 Herman vs Tyler Watson.............................. Herrman pin 44-20...47-15

You have changed 160 to a "maybe" for Ryan from a Baylor decision, a Ryan win at 171 to a Baylor win (Big Shuford over Goodrum ?), a Ryan win at 215 to a maybe. So, 160 and 215 cancel each other out and 171 is a 6 point swing to Baylor making it 47-17 Baylor which is right up there with oldref's 45-18. Are you two sipping from the same whiskey jug?

You mention a surprise at 189. What would that be? Mr. Green? I know, I know.....................if you tell me, it won't be a surprise. If you take that pin away from your Ryan prediction, that is a 9 point swing to Baylor for a 50-11 Baylor margin. You don't seriously think that could happen, now do you? You are way out on a limb here and someone is sawing behind you.

Ok Uncle Buck,

Remind me of your line. I think you have the purple team winning by 8, or something close. I'll take TBSFBAG and give you 8. That my friend would be considered a fools bet, but because I own you in our wagering, Boo Boo has asked me to build your self confidence, and let you get off the 0.

Actually I do think the score will be close to the above mentioned, but even I couldn't give you 38.5 But if the score is close to what I have predicted, I expect at the Traditional State, Royal treatment.

As for the real IRISH, we dug our hole with the lost to Hixson, and now will have to beat both Seymour and Hixson

to go for our 3 peat. I'll put my bookie visor on and let you know if this is possible at a later date...

(hours later) Heck yes it's possible and probable. Our season has been a roller coaster, with highs and lows and since we are at a low right now, I expect to finish on the ultimate high( and no, not the high that Allsaints seemed to have been on). Scores to come at later date.

Just had a thought, if the purple team doesn't even get to the finals, do I still win the wager?

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
