SAW IT ALL ON TV..COVINGTON COACH NEEDS TO ACT AS AN ADULT NOT A LIL CHILD..HE LOOKED RIDICILOUSLY LOST / SMITTEN / MAD FOR NO REAL REASONING ...ITS A GAME AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN...GUARANTEED IF HED HAD THE CHANCE HE WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME.. .A NOTE FOR OTHERS THAT READ THIS THREAD DC DID NOT PURPOSELY RUN UP THE SCORE WHEN COACH MC IS SUBBING ALL THRU THE BALLGAME STARTING WITHIN 4 MINUTES OF 1ST QUARTER..THATS WHAT PRACTICE IS FOR PLAYING SUBS FOR THE FUTURE AS HES DONE ALL YEAR..IF DC HAD LEFT STATERS IN ANYMORE THAN THEY PLAYED CHOCTAWS WOULD HAVE SCORED 150+ ..THEN MAYBE HE WOULD HAVE A REASON TO EXPLODE AND SHOW HIS A** ..GO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah and MOST of West TN saw what he did... and you are right if DC ever left their starters in the entire game they probably would be scoring at least 120+ pts every game!

Haaaahaaa! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> i think his credibility went out with the Region 7AA ticker on his tv!!!

Beavo: that was a joke in case you are too ignorant to realize that.

Adsmom: I just threw up in my mouth a little bit thinking about you shaving in the shower. Now that is something that needs to stay personal.

Good luck to the boys from Newbern (or wherever). You guys sure play some good ball.

I fully understand all of Cov. is not sore losers. Ya'll played a good game.Very quick team, athletic, some darn good 3's shot by that one kid. Still stand by what I say about the coach...regardless what anyone thinks happened..we all have opinions. No coach should do that....ever. His actions could have incited a riot in a place packed to the rafters with people. Not ALL fans from ANY teams have self control. The majority of us have self control..but not all...even from our side. My concern is for the younger children in attendance that could have been hurt. Hats off to you Covington kids!!

Just a question: How would you DC faithful feel if after Blake reentered the game at around the two minute mark and up 20something, he broke his ankle and was out for the season?

One starter is usually left in to help the younger kids run and learn the plays..majority in were freshman at that time. This is approaching sub-state...any and all the playing time they can get is good .....ALL OF THEM.

Ok, here's the deal folks. The way I saw everything unfold last night near the end of the game, it depends on how you look at it. I believe coach McCord put Blake back in the game to simply remove him so the Choctaw faithful could give the Mr. Basketball finalist a well-deserved ovation. I may be wrong (it seems to happen from time to time) but after talking to Derek after everything settled down I am more convinced that is all he was doing. A coach has the right to play who he chooses, when he chooses, and to be honest while Dyer County did have a nice cushion, Covington was still pressing and had made significant runs at the Choctaws throughout the contest. Yes, one may view Blake re-entering the game with a 23-point lead as bad sportsmanship, but I understand what was being done, or at least I think I do.

As for the Covington coach's behavior after the game, a lot of things are said and emotions run high this time of the season, especially in a loss, so in the heat of the battle there will be words exchanged that will be emotional. The game was over and taking the high road would have been the best way to handle the situation, but instead a great game between one great team and one very good team was marred by the actions after the final buzzer sounded.

If there was one thing I would like to learn from the Covington coach is for him to teach me how to STRUT out of the gym like he had just won a state championship instead of simply walking off the floor after his squad had 107 hung on them in the region semi-final. Seriously, the strut was pretty cool but certainly unwarranted. The administration at CHS sure must have been proud last night wouldn't you say?

Glad to know this...I was just taking a guess!! You are right the man did have a "strut" he even "strutted" on the sidelines a couple of times...I for one was stunned speechless for a moment...incredibly rare for me...INCREDIBLY.

Great observation Smitty ! Most folks that don't attend D.C games regularly don't realize how much "Bench Play" goes on during any one contest. I dare say that ther are a "minute percentage" of teams where the "underclassmen" / bench get the playing time as those of D.C. ! I was NOT at the game last night & haven't been able to attend any since the "War"@ Dyersburg's gym since I'm stuck workin' in Ohio in close to 8" of snow. However, this is NOT the first time that D.C has rung up large numbers (many of those coming off the deep bench that D.C. is blessed with). If Coach McCord put Justin back in for the recognition that he SO deserves then I can think of no single player that deserves it any more. Talented, unselfish, class act .................. ! Certainly his playing time has seldom been the majority of any given ball game (nor has any of the starting five) when I have been in attendance. I've seen all but the cheerleaders & mascot get minutes in many games that I was able to attend. Justins numbers are more than impressive & I have seen him play VERY few games where he was on the floor for the entire or even MOST of the contest.Just curious, after he was reentered how many did he score ! Justins numbers when compared to other "premier" players are even more impressive because of the amount of time that he spends sitting. JMHO

    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
