Too many schools

interesting article, but he for sure misses one obvious point. Davidson County public schools have been just as ineffective as Hamilton County's. The difference is that suburban Nashville programs (schools from the surrounding counties) have been on a meteoric rise for the past 10 years. I don't know what the equivalent is for the other big cities in TN...but look at the accomplishments of middle TN teams outside (but adjacent to) Davidson County--Smyrna, Ravenwood, Independence, Riverdale, Brentwood HS, Hendersonville, etc. They are off the charts while Davidson County schools struggle. Hillsboro and this year Maplewood have been the exceptions in 4A.

Davidson county schools are suffering at the hands of both privates (big and small) and surrounding public school systems.

With Davidson County Public Schools & the Memphis City Schools being sooooooooo bad I want to know what the problem is and how do you fix the problem? Do we have any inner city school systems in the USA that have average academic or above average test scores? Most of the people on the website want to split the public and private schools but they fail to tell anyone what the problems are and how to correct the problems. Why are people leaving inner city schools for suburban county schools?

Old Pirate would guess.............. the inner city kids have more issues/behavior problems.

Inner city kids have behavior problems and other issues so we need to have D1 & D2 or have a complete split? That makes alot of sense!!!!

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
