. Lack of strict zoning made it possible for the Bulldogs to attract kids from outside the city of Milan zone. I`d love for someone to deny that (especially Stevie Ray). For Coach Tucker to proclaim he couldn`t "bring in players" is totally misleading.

 

I`m not trying to stir things up, but let`s keep things real.

 

You are talking about a very small pct. of kids. Zones have been closed going on 5 years now and the Bulldogs are still winning.

Let's call it like it is: Which would you rather have the pick of GIBSON COUNTY or Davidson County?...Heck all those schools RECRUIT...Brentwood Academy, Goodpasture, David Lipscomb, YOU CAN"T HAVE THAT MANY D-1 prospects in one area....ESPECIALLY THE RICH SECTION OF NASHVILLE....And yeah, I have heard Tucker had some kids that WEREN"T from Milan...The Late Larry Joe Smith who went to UT with Earnest Fields and John Fisher ( I believe he was in that class) was from CHESTER COUNTY....Don't know HOW TRUE it is...But I heard it...But you can't deny the man was a GREAT COACH.....Let's put it this way...Let Carlton Flatt have Milan's talent and let Tucker have Brentwood Academy's.....Don't think it would be close...

 

 

All good points Stevie.."like comparing apples to oranges" as Tucker said..who woudnt any coach rather have the talent avaiable in Davidson Co. and all areas beyond for the privates and so-called non-privates ..Think thats now still a disparity to publics competeing against them..THINK AGAIN..cant get them to admit it ,cuz they only look thru their "Rose Colored" glasses...Win at all means while gloteing over the Gold , Silver balls they have in the old trophy case....YES INDEED,TUCKER WAS ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST COACH TO GRACE THE SIDLINES OF TENNESSEE H.S. FOOTBALL HISTORY..

I'll agree about Coach Tucker being one of the best. It was as much about building hard work, dedication and integrity in his players as what happened on the football field.

You forgot "THE MEDINA BUMBLEBEES"...I heard when Tucker got mad at a player he told him.."Why don't you just go and play for the MEDINA BUMBLEBEES".... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> FWIW:...Anybody who can take Gibson County and MAKE THE PLAYOFFS is a coach...No ifs, ands, buts, about it...I think his one season at Gibson County they hadn't even HAD FOOTBALL that long...Then he leaves and goes to Humboldt where he had that team that had Toby Champion, and Kelcey Williams....Who was the 2nd best back I've seen come out of Humboldt...."Punkin" being the first... where he ended up getting beat by that Marion County Team and Eric "E-Mo" Westmoreland who lost what 3 games in 4 years?....GREAT COACH...TOUGHER than a Two dollar steak and he would make the front page of USA Today...for some of his coaching methods...But he knew how to win...Great, Great Coach...

Let`s get real serious and call it like it is instead of hyperventilating on BA like you are doing. First of all BA is in Williamson County and not Davidson. Secondly, ANY kid in Gibson County and beyond could have attended Milan. Third...It`s just crazy for you to say BA had "the pick" of any county you wish to include them in.

 

Stay with me here StevieRay...Let`s say I`m the coach at BA and you are a good football player nearby. Now how do I get you to come to BA? Do I just snap my fingers and say "Come here"? (oh and don`t forget to bring that check for $15,000. ) You insinuate that BA can just go out and get any player they want and that is JUST NOT TRUE. What is true that for years Milan could attract good football players because they had a great coach. The same is true for BA. I`ve NEVER accused Milan of recruiting good players. Good players just wanted to go there. The same is true for BA.

 

Fourthly...I never denied Tucker was a great coach and I even said that. You were wrong to insinuate in your post that I said otherwise.

Years later...The Late "Tito Lee" from BA...Rest his soul...COULDN"T EVEN READ OR WRITE...Couldn't even get into MTSU...Richard Land...who was 6-8 and 290..( Another RICH KID WITH MONEY)LOLwho went to THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS ANS STARTED AT OT......said he never was hit harder in college or high school than by Tito Lee. and this poor kid killed himself because he couldn't get into COLLEGE...Couldn't even get into JUCO......And yet "he had the money to go to Brentwood Academy"...and hang in the halls with Johnny Cash's son....Yeah right...

 

Those schools..WILL GET A GREAT PLAYER IN SCHOOL.........One way or the other...they fix it where YOU CAN GET INTO SCHOOL...Your OUTRAGEOUS TUITION will be covered by some way or the other....Some sort of SCHOLLY....That Kurston Biggers kids they had up there about 10 years ago was from MURFREESBORO....

I agree... I have heard of many payed tuition offers.....but milan? Milan has been a power house in the state for many years.....Players see a chance to be a star at a dominate school they will take it

Stevie Ray, You are dead wrong in saying that Lipscomb recruits. To begin Since 1982 when Coach Glenn McCadams showed up the following players have gone D-1: Jonathan Shaub- Vanderbilt (His Dad went to Lipscomb and he came to Lipscomb in the 5th grade. Ethan Flatt- Olemiss (His dad was the president of the University so he was not brought in or recruited. Austin Rogers and Zach Rogers(committed to Tennessee) : Austin signed with Tennesse two years ago and both of them have been at Lipscomb since Kindergarten. Two players that could of gone D-1 were Justin Chunn and Sloan Burton but did not want to play in college. There have been a handful of players go to I-AA and D-2 schools and play as well as a few more walk on at D-1 schools. Sounds like they win with alot of D-1 talent NO. Coach Mac was John Tuckers assitant at Milan for 9 years. He was the defensive coordinator that lost all those games to Coach Flatt at BA. Coach Flatt and Coach Mac also faced off for years before reclassification. Lipscomb wins every year with discipline and execution. Most of the kids that start for Lipscomb are Seniors that have worked there way up the depth chart for three years. Also there is not work study programs or financial scholarships available at the school. No school toes the line harder then Lipscomb and Coach MAc. Glenn built the program at Lipscomb it took him 12 years to get to and win a state title. I cannot vouch for other private institutions but to throw Lipscomb in a recruting group is not fair or right or accurate based on facts not opinions or denials. I look forward to seeing Lipscomb march down the field again with great coaching and hard working kids. GO Stangs
