What you're not getting is the fact that the "hype" isn't coming from playing in high school. It's coming from doing well at camps and combines with other good to great players around him. Yes playing against those teams that our bigger, emphasis on the word TEAM, while being on a 1A team he probably wouldn't get a lot done by himself. However, colleges are seeing the potential he has to be very good by the time he gets to college and are looking at him. I just think it's funny that people can't be happy for someone that is doing well, but instead try to tear them down. Guess it shows what kind of people you have in Jackson.

Jabriel Washington is legit and is not over-hyped. I'd bet my money that if he were to playing on any team in West TN he'd still be getting the same recognition from TN and GA. The kid is VERY good and is only a Sophomore (keep that in your heads people). Give the kid credit. It's definately a natural talent when you can make an impact like he did in his Freshman year. Good Luck to Jabriel over his next few years.

No one has been arguing his natural ability. I agree. He's very good. My argument started with the comment

"Two words....Jabriel Washington." I have trouble believing that he can single-handedly beat USJ, or any halfway decent team for that matter. I give him due credit.

He's a difference maker. You put all of your focus into stopping Jabriel and TCA should/will have another weapon to hit you with. He may not run for 100 yards but I'll guarantee you if you put all of your focus into stopping that 1 kid someone else on that team will beat you.

I know for a fact he has been verbally offered by 5 BCS schools. Yes you are correct he cannot get anything in writing until Sept 1 of his Junior year but you can be verbally offered. He went to 2 different camps this summer and was told by both Tennessee and Georgia coaches that he was good enough to offer but they don't offer kids that early. People can take it's for what's it's worth but that's the facts of the matter.

I think that you need to check your facts because lets say that someone did tell him that that particular school would give him a scholarship, it wouldn't be anyone that has any say in scholarships at all because its illegal to talk to any of the coaches so yeah, your wrong about that. he is a little lack in size and would need to put on mass not just weight to have any kind of chance to play for any BCS team, which is a little bit of a stretch. And as for the comment about him possibly being recruited as a LB, that is the biggest joke i've ever heard.

I would focus on stopping him, i don't believe they have anyone else this year that is capable of carrying the load. What you said could be true in the weak region they play in but they will not go deep in the playoffs.

JB is a great player. TCA has several players this year "capable of carrying the load". Just wait. You will see. We do not select our region, so don't play that card. As for playoffs, that is a long way off. TCA will leave it all on the field every game. Where that takes us will be a fun ride for the players and fans.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
