I wanted to sleep on this because I did not want to say anything stupid. Last night was not a good sign for Smyrna in many fronts. They did not seem to have any fire to them after the first set of down. No one step up to make plays. The team was not ready, you could tell, Siegel was much more discipline and ready for the game. Even a simple thing like hydrating yourself the day before the game was not done. If it was, not very well. Smyrna was cramping up somthing fierce. Siegel was in the same conditions and they didn't nearly have the amount of cramps and injuries. Goes back to being prepared. It was unbelievable how many Smyrna kids were getting hurt, tapping their helmets asking to come out of the game to get a break and making silly, silly mistakes because they were tired.

Not dought that Smyrna was out maned, out played, (I know he's new but) and out coached. QB play was the big question to start the year. It was not pretty. Smyrna played 3 QB last night (including Bryson) none of them looked like they had the tools yet. They are all sophomores but they need a lot of work.

The Question was asked: "So is it that Siegel is really that good or did Smyrna just not show up or a combo of both? I think it was a little of both. Siegel has a nice team and they should beat some more good teams this year. They are good sized, very good backs, and their O and D line's are big and move very well. Siegel Passed the (eye test) with flying colors. Very nice looking team. #75 on the D line is a monster. He is BIG and MEAN. #15 and #24 in their backfield was very impressive

One thing good is that Smyrna's defence was very stout. Smyrna D played the bend but don't break D. Siegel was able to move the ball but not punch it in. They held Siegel to 2 fieldgoals. Smyrna's D was on the field all night because the O could not get anything going. For them to only give up 2 field goals was a nice positive for them to build on. Siegels other points was a INT returned for a TD and 2 point conversion.

We will be looking to see how the team responds to this. Not a good first showing. If Smyrna dose not get anything going Offensively, they will be in for a Loooooooong year.

Hydrating the day before the game will not keep you from cramping. You must hydrate throughout the week in order maintain appropriate water balance.

Congrats to Siegel!!! Alot of yesterday's powerhouses went down. Seems like we're out with the old and in with the new. Why is everybody so down on Bryson? The kid is remarkable and will continue to grow and make plays...give it time. He can't be a one man team, that's way beyond anyone's expectations. Congrats again to the Siegel Nation!

O.K. Siegel won. The Smyrna Defense gave up only 3 of the 14 points. First field goal on a fumble recovery and a touch 6 TD after an interception. Smyrna has alot of work to do and I am not making excuses, but Smyrna's QB will be Joshua Woodall whenever his off season shoulder surgery is 100%. For those who don't know Woodall came in the game against Brentwood Academy last year after Sonny Gray got hurt and played the entire 2nd half and came within ONE yard of bringing the Dawgs back for the win. Smyrna's D is going to remain stout and the offense will begin to click better down the road. And as to all this Siegel Nation crap, why don't you actually make the playoffs for the first time let alone win two back to back gold balls before trying to act like you are the next great thing.

Yea right! That's a smart statement. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> So your saying you will use the same amount of fluids on game night as you do on M, T, W and Thus? You will double the use of fluids in a game so you hydrate accordingly. The fluids you consume on Wed. are gone Thursday. That why you load up on Thursday and Friday Pre game.

1. never drink too much {right} before you play but always have something

2. drink water that is room temperature

3. drink sports drink after {replace electrolytes}

4. stretch well

5. (Most important) Thursday after your pre game walk thru. double your fluid intake.

6. Eat a Banana before game. and half time.

Cramps will happen you just need to prepare and reduce them.

this comment hold no weight. When Sonny got hurt they went to an I formation and pounded the rock the rest of the game. He had Rod open several times an missed him. He is not the answer.

I saw that comment about Bryson stinking. I iqnored it because it was so stupid. He's a playmarker and everyone knows it.

He did not look like a playmakes last night at all. He was put in check. Maybe the Stars D is that good, but I feel that any running back would have been a playmaker with Gray and Wilkes on a team. Its easy to run when people are afraid of the pass. So just be honest with yourself on that note. But I hope your right and he is a playmaker, that makes Siegel look even better. GL the rest of the way Smyrna, mr grumpy band guy up theres a little ticked that the Stars knocked off that back to back gold ball team apparently.

Ok then band-dawg, have it your way (you still lose)

Siegel Offense 3 Smyrna Defense 0

Siegel Defense 11 Smyrna Offense 0

Siegel may not be good in your opinion but they SHUT OUT the bulldogs.

Oh and the Siegel band also was wayyyyy better than the Smyrna band.

When the regular season ends and Smyrna and Riverdale are in the playoffs and the spoiled little rich school is sitting at home again, nobody will care about Friday's game. You can spend all of Daddy's money to make your school look good, but it WILL NOT buy you wins. And to reply to the other poster about bands, Smyrna performed their entire show compared to Siegel only doing the first bit. Siegel fell apart with their tempo's at the end and the band was "phasing" you better stick to being an average football observer and leave the Band to the experts.
