Bill Haney passes away

I was just informed that legendary West Tennessee broadcaster Bill Haney has passed away this evening. I do know that he had been in ill health for a long time now. This is the second death to hit the Trenton Peabody family in less than 24 hours. Peabody football player Matt Morris died in an automobile accident less than 24 hours ago.

Bill was a legend in West Tennessee broadcasting and a mentor to many of us when we began. Our prayers are with Peg, Tim, and all of Bill's family.

Mr. Haney was Purple to the core - except when his son coached the Golden Tide for quite a few years. Milan loses a very good man and high school sports is without a great supporter tonight. Prayers to the family, Mr. Bill was a great man and respected by many.

I'm sorry to hear of Bill Haney's passing away. He was a legendary high school football announcer/supporter in northwest TN. Also, saddened to hear about the young man from Trenton that lost his life in an auto accident as well. Condolences and prayers to the families from a McKenzie Rebel fan.

I've listened to many broadcasts with Mr. Haney. He was a great voice on the radio and you could truly tell that he loved what he did. He'll be missed.

He was calling in updates on 96.5 Friday night from the Trenton/Lake Co. game. A legend in high school sports.

Bill Haney has meant so much to high schools sports in West Tennessee, and even statewide. High schools sports has lost a great man, prayers go to his family in this loss. He will be missed by so many.
