Alot of things go out the window when you play inter-county rivals. Sometimes they can be new seasons in and of themselves( Army-Navy) (Auburn-Alabama). But the one thing that makes me doubt that here is the consistency of Franklin this year. For the most part a very mistake free team. Sure there have been some corners get burned and a special teams blunder or two, but the play of the defense against bigger, quicker and on paper, better teams has been tremendous and nearly flawless. Defenses win championships and clearly FHS has a great one this year. Talent and skill positions ( there isn't even room for discussion here) Nichols, Ford , Lee and company all have plenty of talent. The reason for the excitement FHS fans is the front five. The guys that no one knows or says anything about. Quick: Pop quiz....when the Pittsburg Steelers won 4 Championships with Terry Bradshaw who were his center and two guards? *** (see below)

Franklin has had some awesome special teams talent in years past ( kickers and returners) that have single-handedly won ball games. As much as I respect Coach Gamble and Coach Curtis that hasn't been the case so far but its early they continue to work hard and toward the end, a season can come down to a kick, a blocked kick, return blocking, return tackling. With everything else firing on all pistons right now it tends to be a mute point. Congratulations Rebels, keep working hard.

Be ready for a rowdy environment!!! If ever the FHS student body needed to go all out for a game this would be the one! IHS students pride themselves on being the 12th man! The FHS student body needs to beat them at their own game at their own home stadium !!!

Good point BDD, Im a fan of your posts because you "see into the game"

Im going to congratulate Franklins Fab Five , Jackson, Walkup , Combos, Edrinkin, Anderson..We as fans sometimes forget who is in the trenches play after play..These guys are tough! I have noticed that QB Nichols does thank them publicly in all his quotes..Saying the line gives hom time to throw etc.

Same thing with the D line Howard , Shelton ,Wilson, Jervis....great job in your abilities.

Keep Focused Rebels...Remember your Goal....

All I have to say is

CHS: 37

IHS: 28

Franklin wins this one easily. IHS will get out coached just like they did against the cougars "Reverse inside your own 5 yard line"? and the Franklin players will come out hungry. No leadership from the seniors this year they dont have last years seniors to rely on. I have seen alot of INDY games and it just doesnt seem like the excitement is there in the stadium anymore. No home field advantage /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=". The only way that INDY has a chance is if they grow up this week and find some leadership on that field because knowing the juniors from last year there isnt any.

I think you lost the home field advantage when Mr. Obnoxious was replaced as the PA........

Your right!!!! The voice of the Eagles is gone and that has alot to do with it, but Shephard who is an all region corner, Williams, Berry, and all the other Seniors on this team better take charge. 3 TD passes thrown over the defensive backs to Drew Kelly is ridiculous. Who ever their defensive back coach is needs to be replaced because they have regressed in my opinion.

Let me tell you what Independence High School is about, because it seems like some people have forgotten and are in need of a history lesson.

2006- Independence's first class of seniors had to suffer the loss of their friend & teammate Tommy, Independence entered the 06' season with two big wins against Page, Hillwood, and Centennial before the Franklin game. Franklin was the powerhouse team that they have always been "called", they entered IHS with a flawless record of 4-0 (starting to sound familiar?), Franklin was the favored team, that nobody could possibly imagine being stopped. Independence banded together and beat the unbeatable, reducing their record to 4-1

2007- IHS went into 07' after losing their head coach, and feeling betrayed about the whole experience, this loss was followed by Independence going to Franklin and receiving an absolute spanking. But once again Indy circled the wagons, and pulled it together. After taking down Ravenwood & Brentwood, Coach Uebanks said it best, "the one game we really wish we could have back would be Franklin". Coach Uebanks and the rest of the team got their wish. Coach Uebanks out-schemed Clayton & Webb, by using his players in new and interesting methods (Pettigrew & Consiglio as D-Tackles). Indy played as a team, and sent Franklin Home.

2008- Independence has suffered the loss of alot of players in key positions, IHS followed those losses with an unexpected loss to CHS, and even though Indy has proven resolve...once again everyone is counting us out against Franklin

And now we are on the doorstep of 08's showdown, And everyone (including Indy's every own) has forgotten what IHS stands for. Indy plays as a team, we dont even elect "team captains we march out on that field as a team, and we do not start pointing the finger when life gets a little rough (remember that EagleSRdad07) Playing Independence means you have to put up with gold & white fans packing the house, and for Franklin it seems to mean leaving the stadium hearing chants of "WE BEAT FRANKLIN"....Franklin has never beat Indy at Independence High School

You made 2 good points "eye" the loss of Tommy Johnson and last years seniors Consiglio and Pettigrew. These kids probably dont even remember Tommy Johnson so they sure are'nt playing for him, and Consiglio and Pettigrew are gone now so who is going to lead this team and step up as selfless players? The likes of Ben Parker, Jeff Veres, Ryan Consiglio, Scott Pettigrew their all gone and now the INDY coaching staff is left wondering what to do. Webb and Clayton are to good of coaches to get out coached again and I can guarantee you that they will be taking shots at the weak defensive play that INDY is putting on the field. Blow Out Blow Out Blow Out

Actually, most of the time when the whole team comes out on the field as captains, it means that they don't even have two or three players that are good enough to be considered captains.
