5A

Region 7

Millington vs. Cordova winner is first, loser is second.

Ridgeway is third.

Craigmont is fourth.

Region 8

If Houston wins, Whitehaven is first, Houston is second, White Station is third, and Germantown is fourth.

If Houston loses, Germantown loses, and Whitehaven wins, Whitehaven is first, White Station is second, Houston is third, and Germantown is fourth.

If Houston loses, Germantown loses, and Whitehaven loses, White Station is first, Whitehaven is second, Houston is third, and Germantown is fourth.

If Germantown wins, White Station wins, and Whitehaven wins, Whitehaven is first, White Station is second, Germantown is third, and Houston is fourth unless Collierville wins, in which case Collierville is fourth.

If Germantown wins, White Station wins, and Whitehaven loses, White Station is first, Germantown is second, Whitehaven is third, and Houston is fourth unless Collierville wins, in which case Collierville is fourth.

This should get the conversation started ... we have a week to see it totally unfold. As of now, what is the general consensus amoung the Memphis area folks?

This is all based on Millington beating Cordova (which I think will happen) and White Station beating Houston and Collierville beating Kirby. The WS-Houston game could go either way and Collierville has to have WS win in order for them to get in.

7-5A 1)Millington 2)Cordova 3)Ridgeway 4)Craigmont

8-5A 1)Whitehaven 2)White Station 3)Germantown 4)Collierville

So that would make 1st round matchups:

(H) Millington vs Collierville

(H) White Station vs Ridgeway

(H) Cordova vs Germantown

(H) Whitehaven vs Craigmont

Winners of the top two games would face each other as would the winners of the bottom 2.

Not to count the chickens before they hatch.... But, It looks like another Millington vs Whitehaven battle for a chance to play to in the State-Semi's. A rematch of 2007. Where would that game be played this year? Millington or Whitehaven?

3rd round game or quarterfinals belongs to Region 8 this year so what ever Region 8 team advances gets the home game.

Let's assume Houston wins ... then how does it look?

1st Reg. 7 Millington (10-0) (H)

4th Reg. 8 Collierville (6-4)

2nd Reg. 8 White Station (7-3) (H)

3rd Reg. 7 Ridgeway (7-3)

2nd Reg. 7 Cordova (8-2) (H)

3rd Reg. 8 Germantown (8-2)

4th Reg. 7 Craigmont (6-4)

1st Reg. 8 Whitehaven (9-1) (H)

These are the brackets for 7-5A vs 8-5A for the first round. Who do you guys like in these games? My picks are as follows:

Millington

White Station

Germantown

Whitehaven

IF Cordova would have competed with Millington I may have picked them to beat Germantown ... but they didn't.

I agree 100% with your picks.

If Cordova could pass block or defend the run i would give them a chance but they can do neither so it could be a long night for the wolves.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
