okay here it is - heated discussion on another thread -

last home game of the year---one so called supporter of INDY ( out of playoffs and with 3 wins ) stated that this game is meaningless and that the coach should start "certain seniors " that night ?

so i ask you do you agree and think that is fair -

I so no - play them at some point in the game if situation agrees - I think you owe it to the starters and the seniors whom are starters to send them off with a win as for most this wll be the last time they ever play organized ball-

what do you think?

Play to win for sure, to send off the kids on a positive note. But try to work in every senior for at least a couple of plays throughout the game. And if the game is uneven in the 4th quarter (winning or losing) they should play every senior as much as possible.

thank you mr rebel- to get more of this crazy stuff look at indys future thread on this site - i do so agree with you

Looks like I'm a minority in this one, but I say start the sr. backups. You can always make a change, but those backups will never forget this game. The regular starters would understand I believe.

I may be in the real minority, but I say starters had their chance senior or otherwise - play for the future - Sophs and Juniors

Thats where I am in agreeance. You play for the future of the program. I think all the seniors deserve an opportunity to play. But Im always one that says get your best 11 on the field, if thats 11 freshman then thats who should play. Just because someone starts all season as a Jr doesnt mean that a freshman cant put them on the bench their Sr year if they are better than them. So you play your best 11 & make a concious effort to get every Sr playing time & get your younger guys experience for next year.

Actually most sophomore and Jr. starters would not understand. Thats what they worked for. However I don't think they would mind being subbed at the appropriate point by a senior.

I disagree, I think they would understand. Kids are more understanding than we given em credit for. I think it's a great oppty and would be a great gesture to start them, it's only one game and the jr's and sophomore's have many more to come.

Last season, my senior squad went 3-1 to start, and finished exactly 3-7. At the end of summer practice, the special teams coach gathered seniors, and told alot of us that our best chance to get on the field was special teams. I went from special teams mainstay, to the corner rotation by the 5th game, and only started one game the whole year. The PT was maybe half of each game, but it was the most fun I've ever had in my life. Our coaches started alot of seniors that played mostly special teams toward the end of the season and it didn't hurt this season's squad (7-2 with a chance to win the region this friday). Play the seniors, alot of them have probably been lacing it up since their freshman year, and they work just as hard as the starters. You've got all spring and summer to get the young guys experience in scrimmages. That worked for our guys, as most of our returning players got alot of experience last season, and the young guys have really stepped up. The seniors that aren't starting most likely won't play on saturdays, and this is their last chance to lace it up and play. Put em out there, whether it's special teams or something, atleast try to get as many seniors on the field as you can. Don't hurt your chances to win, but try your best to get these guys out there so they will have something to remember. Playing under those lights is something I miss, and though I didn't start most of my senior year, I got enough PT to have something to remember.
