TheSpoon
Can you blame him? Will his market value ever be hire? I assume you mean higher? No it won't. No way they repeat anything close to what they did this year.
scoot91
I assume you mean higher? No it won't. No way they repeat anything close to what they did this year. I think coach Russell may have his staff in place but nothing official has been announced. I know he has hired a coach that was already a teacher at Heritage and he may be bringing a couple in from else where. I havent heard much lately..... eastTNfan
im still very upset to hear that he will not be bringing back coach shane and coach nelson coach nelson has been a fixture at heritage even if he was just kept of to take care of the fields and be morale support he woulda been happy i think and coach shane wasnt asking to be a coordinator he was willing just to coach linebackers or just a postion coach of any sort but i guess that is done with now so with the loss of nelson, leatherwood, dunbar, shane, and young. that leaves west, coach mac and bradford. any word on whether these three will be returning... honestly im usually not the one to criticize a coach but i hope coach west doesnt return. i find him to be a joke. but it would be nice if they brought in coach whitehead whom helped with the offensive line part time last year. looks like to me he has alot of replacing to do. i wish him the best of luck and hope he can get a good staff together i have alot of hope and faith in this coach and think he was the right choice all together i hope he can bring in the staff he wants and i cant wait for season to support my mountaineer GO HERITAGE!!!!! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Coach West is a great coach. He is one of the coaches that took time to coach and teach the kids the correct way to block, and do there assignments. I saw him do more one-on-one coaching than any other coach on the field for the varsity. One other thing that coach West brings to the team is his attitude about winning, having pride and a great work ethic. I don't think you will find anybody that works as hard as he does at coaching. Now to answer your ?. Bradford, & West are coming back. Nelson will continue to work on the fields and help the kids in the weight room. I havent heard anything about Mac? Its not hard figuring out who you are. I never seen you at any of the practices, just games, riding the fence second guessing the coaches and making excuses for your kid. For Heritage to be successful in all male sports they need to get rid of all the cancers like you. As far as Coach West, he is one of the best young coaches in the Heritage program. If you weren't ignorant and actually watched practice you would see that Coach West does a great job! Its people like you that hold the Heritage program back and scare away good coaches. YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

(School record since 2001 13-67 a .163 winning percentage Heritage High School Records) PITIFUL! old hertiage or new heritage? the boys at heritage deserve better than what they have gotten the past ten years. it has been hard to find good coachs since hhs has such a poor reputation. i hope that coach russell is a good hire for the kids. i hope that he recognizes what a huge job he has ahead of him. i hope that he puts discipline first. good luck coach russell and staff... you're gonna need it! Did your mommy and daddy tell you how great you are when in fact you never worked hard enough to play second string on a pee wee team? did they teach you to blame the coaches for your failure to work hard and learn. Did you lose all those games because the referees didn't like hhs? How many excuses did you and those around you make for your failure to work hard to win. i don't know if you know this or not, but no one ---- NO ONE gives you anything. you have to earn it. hhs boys football hasn't worked or done the things necessary to earn it. excuses. that's all, excuses. go away old heritage. if coach russell is half as tough as he needs to be to overcome all of the cry baby parents and players you won't want to be around for it. you'll have to work hard and he will probably hurt your feelings. that's too much to ask of a delicate flower like you. eastTNfan
actually i was a kid who worked my butt off for four year aT heritage high school. i am one of the kids that benched over 300 pounds. i am one of the kids who started. i am one of the kids who never missed a practice in four years. minus one MAJOR family emergency and i was back at school the next day. i am the kid who played hurt his entire junior season with an injury that required surgery. i am the kid all four years that was vocal on the field and on the sideline when getting a breather. i am the kid that loves his fellow players and school more than himself. i am a four year Letterman i am a three sport athlete i am the kid that never whined or complained about the heat, just said heck coach is that a snow flake. i am best friends with people that worked there rear end off for heritage that had to sit out there senior season at times do to knee injuries and as far as my offensive line being weak my senior year dont say one word about jesse dixon, cody garland, john malone, and eric costner. when they were the four starters out of the five before injuries took over you had 4 guys benching 315, 325, 325, 395 respectively in the game. soo as you want to criticize me and my senior class and those before us why dont you look to the juniors that had to step into my comrades places and fill there shoes at the offensive line positions left vacant due to major injuries. i will not name names that is not how i am cause it was a team effort. and you talk about players playing to much both ways. but you wanted our best defensive player and leading tackler. who played hurt all year to double up and play running back for most of the game. now tell me where your logic is in that statement. i just dont see it. maybe coach west would be a good linebacker coach but with him it was the same 3 drills every single day. combo block cut block down block if the way he was teaching wasn't working then maybe he should try a new drill every once in a while i went to several major college football camps in my four years when west came in he told me everything that i had learned was wrong i have nothing against coach west as a person. he is a great guy and friend off the field but on it. while still a good guy. not a great coach and then as far coach young and burning the defense goes when you defensive coordinator is telling you the play they are running then i would hope a coach from the offense could "burn" the defense i almost bet that there isn't a single one of you on the booster club. i have never heard minh trans daddy or mother put down a player or a coach the way you have. i have never heard cermaks dad whine about his sons playing time. so if they can be supportive why cant you. i have never seen a bunch of parents or fans that cant support there players once they receive the title alumni. for most of us still put in our blood, sweat, and tears into that program and field. i just hope that none of you are people who are playing the game through there son because they never where the player they wanted to be. in conclusion my original post was not suppose to be in the negative i am very supportive of our new coach i shared my concerns and asked a few questions and that is it. i want nothing more for my fellow players that our following behind us to be successful i still talk to evan red, evan tall, minh tran, clayton shell, michael cermak, andy eldridge, jordan "moose" correll, andrew headrick, and tyler edmunds. they all know my support is with them i am good friends with all of them i have earned the respect of all of them even to the point that one of them came and asked me if they could wear my number next season if that isnt respect and leadership what is. and if you cant find me at the games next year ill be the heritage graduate standing on the heritage sideline holding up the sign that says MOOSE!! for jordan at request of him

First, I'm sorry that you played for such a poorly coached team. The head coach sets the tone for a team and you had a poor example. Anyone in the stands on a Friday night could see it. Second, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. The offense that you were forced to run exposed every weakness of the team. Third, too many players who were out there to work hard and play hard were overlooked while deadbeats got most of the gametime. Finally, a list of issues that lead to poor seasons, apathy, and a lack of esprit de corp: 1) a quarterback that couldn't throw deep and ran like he had chains on his legs... not your fault. 2) a poorly coached defense that depended on having a better linebacker corp than you had... not your fault. 3) team discipline that was so poor that home and visiting fans had no difficulty seeing that players did what they wanted to not what they were told to do... not your fault but it is the head coaches fault. 4) injuries that took players out of the game for extended times... not your fault. 5) Inability to play an entire game due to fatigue... not your fault. The coaching staff has the duty to push you beyond what you want to do. And nobody likes conditioning. 6) Team mates that only played at half of their ability... not your fault. They have no pride in themselves or their team. After all, half an effort is good enough. 7) According to players and parents i have spoken to, the weight lifting program was a joke. Pulling on towels? No squat racks. Poor lifting technique when you boys did lift. No wonder you had so many injuries. 8) A lack of commitment by a large number of players. My stepson told me he overheard many players talk about how it didn't matter if they showed up for conditioning or lifting, they knew coach rewis would play them anyway. that is loser thinking. 9) Poor community support. 10) A poor attitude toward the football program in general. I have heard my stepson say that teachers actually ask players how bad they will get beat in a game! That is sick and sad. No players of any sport should have to hear their teachers talk about them like they are trash. As for putting down coaches and players. I wasn't aware that criticism based on observation was a put down. As someone who has watched many games of all the bount county teams, i can tell you that i never saw such a lack of team and teamwork. it was obvious that the hhs football team was more an assembly of individuals out for themselves than working for a team goal. I hope that coach russell puts an end to that crap. if he doesn't then nothing will change and hhs football will continue to be a 3-7 or an 0-10 team. good luck 2009 hhs football! scoot91
Now that you two have hashed it out, can we get back to the important stuff, like HERITAGE football moving forward with a new coach and staff. We need to get behind this program now more than ever and support everyone involved, new or returning. We have some talented kids out there and hopefully some great coaches. The way I see it things will get turned around and Heritage will win some games. There is a new attitude among the players and they are working there butts off in the weight room. eastTNfan , you have some good friends in the gang you named off, my advice to you is to push them to be better, work hard and respect their coaches. With you bad mouthing coach West is not a good start. If they here you saying the things you have said then they will not look a coach West as a leader and teacher of the team. So, be positive and stay supportive of the Mountaineers and lets get this thing on the right track. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
