The way the playoffs work...

 

The TSSAA will take the top 1/2 of each classification in all districts when the are selecting automatic bids. For example, there are 2 4A teams (Livingston Academy and Dekalb Co.) in the district and 4 3A teams (Smith Co, York, Cannon Co., and Upperman). That means that 1 of the 4A teams will receive an automatic bid leaving the other team as a Wild Card. This also means that 2 of the 3A teams will receive automatic bids leaving the other two teams as Wild Cards.

 

So for Livingston Academy and Dekalb Co., whoever finishes with the best overall district record will get an automatic bid for the playoffs leaving the other team as a Wild Card. The other 4 teams will be playing for 2 playoff spots and the top 2 3A teams (district record wise) will receive automatic bids leaving the remaining teams as Wild Cards. If there were 4 4A teams then 2 would go...6 4A teams would make 3 eligible, etc. Same for the 3A schools.

 

With that being said, it doesn't necessarily mean that the top 2 teams will go...because if LA and DC finishes 1 and 2 then whichever finishes 2 will become a Wild Card team for the 4A playoffs.

 

Hopefully this makes sense and adds some clarification on how this new system is going to work.

Hold on. If DC beats LA, are they automatically in because they would be the top 4A team? What if LA only lost the one game and finished in the top 2? Would there be 2 automatic qualifiers and no wild card?

 

To add a little to the depth of DC, They are losing their 3 D-linemen, majority of LB's starting running back, starting CB/WR, and a couple good O-linemen. So about 7 on D and only 4 or 5 on O are movin on.

I know Collier got some snaps there this year.

The top 4A school overall in the final district standings will be the 4A representative. The head to head matchup only comes into play if the two teams end up with identical records. So in theory DC could beat LA and finish 3-2 in the district...LA could finish 4-1 and would be the higher 4A team overall in the district. Therefore, LA would be the 4A school and DC would be a Wild Card.

Man, Collier's crazy. Somebody on here earlier in the season referred to him as Animal off of the muppets. I think he'll jump in there and do a good job. Lawrence was faster, but Collier is one of them run-over you kind of guys

      Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.

      We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.

      Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.

      I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
