Thanks Tri. Actually nothing is wrong with Greeneville. They are like the economy some years and this is a down year.

They are very well coached and the team tries to do what they always do but the talent is down. That is why you have seen blowouts on the devils and wins by the Devils over solid teams as well. A soft earlier schedule may have set up some higher expectations for the Devils, fans and others, but as they play into the meat of the schedule (tough), reality is hitting home.

I look for Wesley Quarrels to be a much strong contributor as the season goes on, and if B. Short gets his shot back, watch out.

Also, Duncan's point guards over the years are almost player coaches and this year's point is a young transfer that is probably a long way from implementing the nuiances of the offense.

I really believe that GHS is the side windner missile with out a gyroscope in this years District and Regional tournaments. Yes a lot teams maybe favored to beat them, but I don't think I would want to play them. Coaching and playing hard is still their forte.

Great assessment noonesfool. Good post.

From checking the scoreboard looks like Mo. West played Cocke Co. a tough game. Where was this one and did the Trojans have a chance to win down the stretch? How tall are Cocke Co.'s post players? I saw West play at South Monday night and was impressed with their offensive efficiency. They knocked down a lot of jump shots.

The game was @ Cocke County & it was like Dejavu all over again for West. The same thing that happened tonight happened over @ West earlier this season.

Cocke County came out flat in the first 2 quarter's making stupid costly turnover's & not making easy basket's. Mo West got the lead out to 13 in the 3rd quarter but Cocke County finally got into a rythm late into the 3rd & carried that into the 4th. Cocke County strecthed the lead out to as much as 10 but West made a run with 2:00 minute's to go in the game. CCHS ended up pulling out the win 50-47.

West was'nt knocking down alot of shot's tonight but neither was CCHS. CCHS's leading scorer Marcus Stewart had a off night & didnt score more than 10. As for West's post play, they dont have a guy on the team taller than 6'1 while CCHS has 3 guy's 6'2 or taller that's where the game was won tonight for CCHS was in the post.

Thanks for the reply jmoore. sounds like a good game. West is certainly a scrappy bunch who plays hard. Cocke Co. is obviously a solid team. South will play at West near the end of the season in what will be the rubber match as they have split two already. I will try to make it to M-town for that one. I've been to games at East over the years but never at West. Looking forward to it. good luck to yours the rest of the way. Enjoy.

How do District 2 followers think your teams match up with likely regional opponents from District 1? Tennessee High, Science Hill, Dobyns Bennett, Sullivan East/Sullivan Central/Sullivan South? Below is a list of games between District 1 and District 2 schools already played and scheduled to occur in the near future.

Region 1 - Head to Head

Games Played

11/21 - Sullivan Central 75, Cocke Co. 62

11/28 - Sullivan East 67, Cherokee 46

12/5 - Cherokee 75, Volunteer 65

12/6 - Dobyns Bennett 70, Greeneville 50

12/13 - Science Hill 60, Cherokee 25

12/20 - Morristown West 68, David Crockett 63

12/22 - Dobyns Bennett 70, Cherokee 43

12/30 - Sullivan South 57, Morristown West 54

1/3 - Greeneville 55, Tennessee High 49

1/5 - Sullivan East 70, Morristown West 52

1/12 - Tennessee High 48, Greeneville 47

1/12 - Morristown West 65, Sullivan South 60

1/17 - Dobyns Bennett 60, Greeneville 52

Games Scheduled

1/19 - Science Hill @ Cherokee

1/27 - Dobyns Bennett @ Cherokee

1/31 - Cherokee @ Volunteer

1/31 - Morristown West @ Sullivan East

2/9 - Greeneville @ Volunteer

2/10 - Sullivan South @ Morristown West

IMAC record against Big 9: 4-10

Big 9 record against IMAC: 10-4

After compiling this list I found it interesting that Cherokee has played/will play five of the nine District 1 schools for a total of eight games this regular season; David Crockett, Dobyns Bennett (2), Science Hill (2), Sullivan East, Volunteer (2). Their record against Big 9 Conference opponents thus far, 1-4, with three games left to play (vs. Dobyns Bennett, vs. Science Hill, @ Volunteer)

Great thread to start and nice research to develop it TCSF! In looking at the info I notice 3 points: most impressive win Central over Cocke Co. by 13, East winning against 2 different teams by large margins, no fix on Mo. East as they haven't played any Big9 teams. It would be easy for a Big 9 fan to feel like our league is stronger this year, but The Hurricanes haven't shown us their stuff yet. This year could be one of the more exciting district and regional tourneys in recent memory. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I would definitely give the edge to region 1 in the boys. Science Hill, DB, and Central are three good teams that I think would be the favorites over the Easts, Cocke Countys, and the Greenevilles from the IMAC. Don't think anybody is going to beat Science Hill or DB from region 2.

Grainger - 51

Cocke County - 49

Grainger dominated CCHS in the post tonight. Grainger to the lead 5-3 early in the first & never gave it up. CCHS was down 10 @ halftime & was down by as much as 15 in the 2nd half, Marcus Stewart stepped it up for CCHS in the 2nd half & brought the team all the way back late to tie it up with around 2 minute's to go. Game was tied 59-59 with 6.8 second's left to play, Grainger had the ball & had to go full length of the court but a foul was called on CCHS which sent Grainger to the line. They hit both to go up 51-49. CCHS called a TO, then got the ball into Marcus Stewart's hand's he drove the entire length of the floor missed a tough layup & Hunter Dockery couldnt get the tip on on the opposite side, therefore giving you the Grainger win by 2

Marcus Stewart had 26 for CCHS

Humphrey for Grainger had 24 & if anyone is wondering Skylar McBee added 10.
