I had a chance to make it to Gibson Co. tonight and saw a great second game. It is always nice to see a Ms. Basketball finalist on the court to see how her reaction will be in tournament time. I thought the tempo favored Westview which eventually led to their win. I think both teams are high quality and I feel the Lady Rebels will move on and be successful in the Regional tourney. For the Rebel fans, not sure how to take them sometimes. I heard someone saying the Lady Rebel coach was "outcoached" after the game. I am not sure that would have been stated if Fussel's shot would have went in at the end of regulation. I am sure then the coach would have been a super star. That always makes me laugh. And, fans need to understand what role each kid plays on their team. A lot of chatter about Fussel getting so many looks and always having the ball, but the same ones were standing when she hit the clutch 3 at the end of the game. Some people are scores, some are defensive players, and others are rebounders, etc. These kids are super athletes and great kids. Let's be supportive of each player's role and enjoy their successes!!

I completely agree. The outcome of this game has completely nothing to do with how the Lady Rebel coach handled the end of the game. If you have a player that is scoring over thirty points on average why would she not be the one with the ball? makes no sense to me. Im not sayin she should take every shot everytime. but look at it this way. had she not took the shots she did towards the end of the 4th the Lady Rebs would have not even been close to sending it to overtime. It just really pisses me off to hear ppl in the stands say "its not the NBA" or "give someone else the ball" just because she has missed a shot. Everyone misses shots and the games are not always gonna fall the way you hope but you have to give the ball to the ppl who can do the best for you on offense. You could see the way the Lady Rebs were looking to Chassity to score. they wouldnt take a shot or hardly pass or screen for anyone else but her. She was the one the girls wanted shooting. Also how about the defensive effort of #15 Kacee Eaves. She made three critical steals there in the second half that kept the Rebs alive. She is a very important player and i dont believe she recieves the credit she deserves. Gonna be a good District Final game.

Hanging in there VO...just trying to dig up some work for my peeps so I don't have to lay anyone off. What gets me is, if it were 2 secs left in the State Championship game and the Lady Rebs were down one, I guarantee you almost 100% of the OCCHS supporters in the stands would WANT Chassidy to shoot that last shot.....she would be crucified if she didn't and they lost.

Old Timer.....Good to hear from you....Some people just don't get it.

OT, where have you been? Saw your name on the screen and thought it was a name from the past. Girls basketball? Wrong color and wrong size for you, but post with you in August if you aren't traveling with BD.

Whats up with DaViews coach giving more talk time on the radio last night to OC star than his own. Is it always like that? I dont know what Oc would be without Fuzzell. But I know what Westview would be without Rechis the last 3 years. I know she is averaging 29 points in tournament. Don't know season. Last night westview down by 8 beginning game then a time out called, dont know what coach said but something probably like someone step up. Then Amber came out and scored right away and made a great mid court steal.Finished with 26 points. Great win by the whole team. I would rather have 26 and the W than 36 and the loss!

Coaches generally do it out of respect for hard work and ability. Would that not fit this instance too?

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
