Dad burnit TTP, Old Pirate says you have been rubbing elbows with them ther Whutwell folks and starting to sound just confused. Fact is Jasper is a lot like Whutwell, neither have much of a tax base and have far more county dollars spent on them than SP, Jasper has received plenty.

OP says you Jasper folks git on here and talk bout the less fortunate citizens that live in projects and the like. How many would want to play for a bunch of folks who constantly talk down to those type of families. Anyone who passes thru your good town can easily see the whole town ain't much. Jasper has NEVER been the center piece of anything cept the County Jail and a bunch of fee grabbing law firms.

Every school gets something each year. It may not be within the same year, but it happens. If your Gym needs to be condemned like SP's did, then you should get a new one.

 

Just look at the field comparisons. SP's field looks a lot better than Jasper's. And the community does the work. It's not SPHS's fault they volunteer for the Cornbread Festival every year and probably get some type of donation from the profits... for helping their community. It's not their fault that SP's festival is better than Jasper's fair.

As far as the two towns go, you are right Jasper isn't much. We have the old courthouse and the square and yall have a strip that is about as long as the four sides of the square. SP was using a Gymnasium that was built in the 1950s and had issues with the north wall separating from the building for decades. That was no small thing considering they playing surface was on the 4th floor.

 

As far as Jasper goes. They got a new High School, Gymn, Football field and Silo when the hippies did their famous sit-in in 1979. The only thing wrong with the old Jasper High was it was in poor maintenance and infested with bats and the "smoking grounds" weren't large enough. However, it seemed to be o.k. for the Junior High students. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Old Pirate don't have any feathers ruffled but did grow up country & financially challenged. OP discussed this topic with a former player who did actually live in the projects. You can bet from his statements most would never play for them Jasper folks. OP says you git what you have coming most times.

Old Pirate says.... PM, don't forgit insurance money paid for a large portion of SP's schools/gyms. Not to mention the football field property was Not purchased by the county tax payers nor was the baseball field. Yep.....Jasper has more than their fair share.

Now, as for the topic. Word is rumored that no decisions have been laid out for all requests regarding coaching requests. Could git interesting real soon.
