Lost Old Dad
Coach Thompson DOES know what is important in life as well as football. Man stands and lives by his principles. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
fsunoles
I do not know this man from adam but I would stand by him if he needed the help. THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD TODAY WHEN WE TOOK GOD AND PRAYER OUT OF HE SCHOOLS AND FROM THE KIDS. Coach if you ever need any help please let me know. Good luck and god will lead the way for you.
Red81KPsmash
I went to Jefferson County, and we said the Lord's Prayer after every practice, before every game, and after every game. I cannot believe that we in America, where we are supposed to be free, are going to tell coaches that they cannot participate in prayer. I totally agree that a coach or teacher should not lead the prayer, but to tell a person they cannot participate kinda goes against the word freedom. If a student or coach wishes not to participate, that is their choice. But don't tell a coach they cannot participate. AND WE WONDER WHY THIS NEXT GENERATION OF AMERICANS IS SO OFF BASE! We allow them to listen to gangster rap and heavy metal music that spews forth anti-moral behavior, but Heaven forbid we allow them to pray. SouthKnoxPrince
I went to high school at Dallas Carter High School and we said a prayer as a team before every game and in times of injury or deaths in the family. I can't believe the Supreme Court feels the need to get involved.
Guest catsvoice
I am super proud to be associated with the Tullahoma football program, where head coach John Olive is a spiritual leader not only on the field and in the locker room but in the community as well. Hats off to Coach Thompson at Lincoln Co. and again I'm grateful to now be in a district with him. District 8-AAA, with coaches Olive at Tullahoma, Thompson at LC, Atkins at Franklin Co., Jason Hardy at Shelbyville, Vance Belew at Columbia, and David Marston at Lawrence Co. is blessed with really quality coaches and people. Once they take God completely away from us we are finished as a free nation. As they are currently taking away our financial freedom, and obviously continuing to take away our religious freedom, it is quite obvious what examples we have of the country we are becoming. Let's see....government-owned industry and banks....no religious freedom....sounds like the England our forefathers left to start with, not to mention Soviet Union, China, on and on and on. Geez how depressing. No wonder we focus such attention on 16-year-old kids playing football.

Just remember when we do not stand together, we will fail. Our coach and team also has prayer before and after each game. For those who oppose, they have the freedom not to participate. You are right when we take GOD out of the equation, we will ultimately pay the price. Look at other nations who chose to forget him.
Eddie
My brother played for Louis Thompson at Lebanon. He and his teammates would do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, for the man. He inspires young men to be the very best they can be. If we had more leaders like "Louie", we'd have better citizens in this world.

BurroBall
I truly love his quote at the end if the article. That is exactly it coach! If it is what is most important to you, you sacrifice for it regardless what the consequences might be just like a spouse, children, civil rights, etc.
jacksoncounty
Thank God we have coaches like Coach Thompson. I support and agree with his quote at the end of the article and I'll stand with him. Any move in Tennessee to strengthen the ban on teams' or coaches' ability to pray would probably be met with hostility, said Louis Thompson, the Lincoln County coach. "I'm going to continue to do it," he said, "and I couldn't care less what the Supreme Court says or does." The MOST persecuted people in America are Christians and it's time we stood up to the Sean Penn's and the Kathy Giffin's of the world. Our young people need positive role models of which a coach has the window of opportunity to be if he will take advantage of it. I am thankful there are many in Tennessee that feel as I do. Thank you Coach Thompson for using the platform you have to teach more than just football. WE SHALL OVERCOME!!!!
BurroBall
Wow, some of those comments on the Tennessean article are downright shocking: People claiming that Christians are taking over public schools and taking their children with them. Claiming that Coach Thompson should honor the law of the land regardless of his personal beliefs about injustice, etc. Claiming that Christians should keep their faith at church and home or else go to a Christian school. Man, many people just have no desire to be accountable to anyone else for their actions.
