Adrain Norfleet, 3x State Champion from Whites Creek (The best takedown wrestler in Middle TN)

Justin Cash, 2x State Champion from Brentwood Academy

Kyle James, 3x State Champion from Soddy Daisy...Not Middle TN. But, he TF all the way through the State Tournament in 2004.

This is not close: Adrian Norfleet of Whites Creek!! He could takedown the UTC 118 & 126 guys with little effort when he was a 119 senior in high school. Adrian is the best high school kid on his feet ever from Tennessee. Let's all hope that Adrian is doing better, wherever he is!!!!!!!

1. Adrian Norfleet

2. Charles McTorry

3. Justin Cash

4. Hunters Lane High School Wrestling Team 1990/1991*

5. Hunters Lane High School Wrestling Team 1989/1990**

*1466 total takedowns currently ranks No.9 on list of all-time best single season total takedowns for a high school team according to Wrestling USA high school records updated as of January 4, 2009.

** 1542 total takedowns currently ranks No. 6 all-time best on same list.

No.1 is Lakewood St. Edwards (Ohio) with 1905 in 1981-1982.

There are a lot of good names on the lists already mentioned, and not to knock any of them but Adrian Norfleet was the best ever Tennessee wrestler in takedowns and probably one of the top five Tennessee wrestlers ever. I wrestled with him for 4 years and he was incredible. Most of the time you didn't even know he was going to shoot. He was very accurate with his shots and extremely quick.

I agree! Adrian Norfleet was not only best takedown wrestler but most certainly ranks in the Top 5 of the best wrestlers to have ever wrestled in Tennessee.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
