Speaking strictly as an outsider to the whole coaching situation but ... I am familiar with Ron Stewart--senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church for 20+ years and founder of Grace Christian Academy.

 

Dr. Stewart is one of the most well-liked and highly respected pastors not only in the Knoxville and East Tennessee area, but also in nationwide Southern Baptist Convention. He is widely known as a man of great character, strong morals and ethics, and great vision. Also he has the reputation as a very "fair and just" man.

 

I would assume that a decision of this magnitude--replacing the basketball coach--would have had to have been signed off on by Dr. Stewart. If indeed Dr. Stewart supported this move, then call me naive if you will, but I have to believe there was a legitimate problem.

 

And if there was indeed a problem, then the coaches winning % or number of trips to the state tournament shouldn't factor into any decision.

 

This is strictly my opinion, sorry if it rubs some the wrong way.

 

Gov,You are right about Mr.Stewart,We will all hear before long, and this kid had a legit reason,if you have a kid transfer he still has to make A LEGITIMATE CHANGE OF ADDRESS!!!!The kid that quit had his playing time took away from a transfer who did not follow the rules.My understanding is they have to forfiet most of the season and post season,GCA fans before you get mad at this post check it out.It came sraight from someone very close to the program.

It is embarassing that a player a can quit a team right before a second state tourney run and his parents can get the coach fired because he's not nice enough to the kids. Are you freaking kidding me? I feel sorry for the next coach and for Coach McKamey if this is really the atmosphere that has been created at GCA!

 

 

What else would you expect from a private school? The people their respect wealth more than a person's ability to teach or coach. If a person is hired to coach they need to get out of his way and let him do his job. Who cares if the coach isn't nice to the players? He isn't there to be a friend to the players. He is there to coach.

A coach is there to be a example and someone the kids respect. He is there to build character and help these kids understand what it means to be a strong christian example to others. I am not saying coach lamb didnt do this but to say it doesnt matter is misguided. Sports it just a great way to teach young men and women about life lessons and how to deal with them. Alot of people can coach and teach the GAME but I respect to ones that also teach honesty and how to deal with dissapointment as well. Just my thoughts

There is not one person from Grace defending him or even saying what they think about the situation. Seems to me that Coach Lamb is being blamed for getting blown out in the State Tournament the past 2 years. Just my opinion though.

I think Grace is in a world of hurt. Both basketball coaches "resigned" under different circumstances. I guess the girls coach lost too much and the boys coach won too much. I do not know the circumstances taking place around there, but I do know they let a couple of coaches go that cared about their players. IF parents/donors/pastors are involved, that is sad. I thought is was the AD who hired and fired coaches? Maybe they should do their job and let the AD, (which was Coach Lamb) do his job and keep their nose out of it.

 

They need to be careful what they ask for, they just might get it.

 

As an AD you better know the rules or it can get yourself into trouble.

My understanding is their will be a ruling very soon, and it doesnt look good for GCA,they may have to forfiet all games after the KCS kids transferred.Post season games as well.Their saying it was not a hardship,and the kids actually had to move and the coach told TSSAA they did,and thats why the Admin did what they had to do.EDITED
