AAA All state team

Isn't that what everyone says? I mean really. It is true. When you lose a game you feel you should have won, it always seems to be "the worst game they have played".... Losing because the other team is simply better is completely different than losing because you played bad. From all the Farragut soccer games I have seen, I think I can maybe recall 1 time when a Farragut player was trash talking... Generally it is the other team taking shots at Farragut. I don't think Wally would let his players talk trash and not be punished for it.

how was brentwood's left back? i think #13?

nick is most definitely not overrated. he was a huge factor in the team even being there to begin with. being at the game, trash talking was coming from both sides, mostly on the farragut side as well as their fans. he was probably just frustrated at how his team had been playing that game. it was probably the worst game i had ever seen brentwood play.

duh?!? when you are getting beat, it usually is! The quality in a player is often gathered from how they carry themselves as well as their team in their worst performance. Anyone can shine in mediocrity.

There were a lot of great players in AAA this year.

Who would you nominate to your all state team?

How about these few players for starters? (These are in no certain order and there is room for a lot more)

Kingsbury??™s Fakhry Khulfan

Farragut's Trevor Greico

Brentwood's Nicholas Desalvatore

Bearden's Ryan Campbell

Riverdale's Patrick Compton

Cleveland's Adam Gonzalez

West's Tanner Thompson

Bearden's Alex Wilkerson

Hendersonville's Paco Hernandez

Farragut's Sam Eddy

Farragut's John Jester

Oak Ridge's Ryan Wilson

think ravenwood has some players that need to be in this. while they got beat 1-0 in substate to hendersonville they had a very good year and if 2 of there key starters hadn't picked up concussions (hospitalized) a week before playoffs things may have been different. mcguinness and saunders weren't the same afterwards but were definite standouts before it happened.

will linder, center mid

brandon saunders, center mid

andrew mcguinness, forward

I think it would have turned out the same honestly. While, Yes, they were a good team, but brentwood was overall stronger. I dont think they could have beaten brentwood. And that means beating Hendersonville in substate, which i dont think could have been done either. In my opinion Farragut/Hendersonville was state championship game. The winner of that game took it all.

Hard to say and we could all speculate. I saw many Ravenwood games during the year including earlier wins against both Brentwood and Hendersonville (Hendersonville was only preseason so admittedly of questionable value) and agree with Tyson that Ravenwood wasn't the same after concussions to McGuinness and Saunders. Every team has injuries they have to work through so Brentwood/Hendersonville/Farragut and others deserve credit for raising their games when it counted! I agree with Tyson though that Saunders, McGuinness, and Linder deserve all-state consideration. I don't know how many postings we've seen throughout the year about Ravenwoods center mids (Linder & Saunders) but they were outstanding. The good news is we get to see this ODP tandem work together again next year.

I think Linder is the only ODP actual player on that list... like Dins list... to be considered you should have helped carry your team to the final... agree that Farragut, Brentwood (no matter what their attitudes...) and Hendersonville deserve majority of votes for getting their teams where they needed to be.

In my opinion, Ryan Pugh should not be considered one of the best in the state...he is a good player but there are many better. What about Watson Hartsoe from Maryville...from what I have seen, he seemed to be more skilled and athletic. Once again, this is just my opinion. This list could run so long!

If you mean the only current ODP player you're correct. You won't see Saunders listed any longer because he played for the '91's the past few years. Very good player that makes those around him better. Still think he should be considered given his impact. I don't believe Ravenwood has the kind of year they had without him.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
