Powell @ Halls

I look for this to go down to the wire, just like it normally does. History says that this game is close, low scoring and the home field is huge.

This really is one of those games that you can throw out the record books and ignore the "spread", because it just doesn't matter.

I agree 100% with you HTV. Throw out the records and all the past this is always a chess match. Everyone enjoys these rivalries.

My main concern this year about Halls football is the offense. With Dowdy missing like Rico said we are finding our legs and we will get better. But it's the running game that concerns me most. We had that breakout run for 50+ last week but that was it. Not discounting that the Smokey Bears kept us contained but to keep us under a 100yard night at our house thats mighty unnerving.

Haven't heard of any players out as of yet, but several kids have been out at school in general.

Yep, and not just at Halls or Powell, either. The flu has hit every school hard over the last week or so.

There have been some rumors of the Halls/Powell game being rescheduled because of it. I was told a few minutes ago by someone who would know that there is no basis to the rumor. Besides, when would you reschedule it to? There isn't a common open date to reschedule it to and with college football starting this weekend, Saturday isn't a good option, either, unless you play it very early on Saturday morning, and that would only delay the game a few hours.

Unfortunately, you just have to line up and play with who can play. With this illness being as widely spread as it is both teams would likely be equally affected.

I don't think we could score 28 in a intrasquad. Just tough luck with the qb situation, thank God he survived the wreck. It will take some time for the new qb. I think he can do the job, it's just gonna take some time. But I don't think we will get 28 in any game, maybe South Doyle.

Rico don't be so hard on yourself or the boys. I've seen many Halls teams stumble early and really get it going by mid season. New young QB has to find his feet and his receivers have to help him which they will. Once the running game starts clicking this should open up the passing lanes again and vice versa. Remember these last two teams are always tough opponents and we played them close in each game. Clinton is now listed 4th or 5th in the state. So they were our Maryville game this year.

Some body please get the little feller a ladder so he can see what is going on out of the field. Backtoback delay calls - priceless. Let anybody else call the plays, just not the little un. In my years of watching football I aint never seen backtoback delay calls. Bet no one else has either.

Bring back the Beatles with there song, "HELP I NEED SOMEBODY (TO CALL THE PLAYS)". :DB)

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
