Well, I was there and as I said, I would be there to shake hands with the winners, but not surprizing no one showed up. I was right there in the 17th row at the 50 yard line and no one on either side of the ball came by.

That's kinda funny seeing as I was sitting in the 17th row at the 50 yard line, right on the aisle. I specifically counted the rows and as you might know, there is an aisle on the 50 yard line and I sat on the first aisle seat on the baseball field (south side) of the aisle where I sit at every home game. So, unless you were sitting on the north side of the aisle and you might have, I'll have to call BS on that! I believe you stated in an earlier post that you would be on the baseball field side. There was someone sitting by themself on the north side of the aisle in that row, so if that was you, I for one can vouch for you being there, in that seat, if you can tell me what color rainsuit you were wearing!

i actually met warrior dad...he was wearing a pink rainsuit with yellow and green flowers on it...was about 70 years old...had black horned rimmed glasses on...his pocket radio in hand, a plastic pen holder in his pocket full of pens...and the whole game he kept yelling... "WE'RE GOING TO CRUSH YOU"...i went over to him to introduce myself...he was a little shy at first but i told him i was there to make friends...after a little chit chat...he said he was hungry and would i buy him a hotdog...so i bought him a hot dog and a coke and a snicker's bar...after the game i told him it was okay...and he kept mumbling something...after several times of me asking him what he was saying...he said: "what will i say on CoachT"...and i told him...don't worry about CoachT...i'll be glad to get on here and tell them what a nice man you are and how much you love your warriors...he hugged me and we departed! So here i am doing what i said i would do for my new friend "Mr. Warrior82dad"!

I have a serious question. I was under the impression that in the 4th quarter and overtime of a football game if an offensive player fumbled then if another player on offense recovers the ball downfield it is brought back to the spot of the fumble? Can someone tell me if this is true in high school football? If not, why wouldn't you just "fumble" and hope one of your teammates recover it on the last play of every game/OT if you got stopped?

I was thinking the same thing as well but that must be a pro rule because at no time did the officials meet or talk about it so i guess its just a pro rule

oakland got it pretty easy...mt juliet is not very good, but riverdale has it good for this week, coffee co. was killed by cookeville who riverdale handled. in rd. 2 the rain wont be an equalizer and the warriors will rock blackman. we'll remember them sliding across the wet field after the game. coach a knows what he's doing and revenge will be sweet. let's go warriors.

Blackman can't wait for the rain not to be an equalizer...

warriors will rock blackman?????????????????...Thanks for the bulletin board material! :P

you'll be like "warrior82dad" who will disappear if it does not happen...he seemed to forget how ugly he said it was going to be on friday with riverdale crushing blackman...

at the first of the season everyone said we won because we did not play anyone...

then we lose to oakland and it's said ...see i told you so...you're over rated

then we beat brentwood and were lucky...

then we beat riverdale and it's because of the mud... :roflol:

IF (and i really mean IF) WE BEAT YOU in a couple of weeks it will be because Coach A (who is a GREAT COACH) broke his toe, or Bobby Wells gave us his defensive game plan, or because we played the game at blackman, or because we've seen the Wing T two weeks earlier, or because the WingT can't win it all at this level, or because you did not throw enough, but from folks like you (not other great riverdale posters) it would never be because we were the better team that night...by the way...this is called EXCUSES!

the sliding across the field was in no way an afront to your team...it was simply spontaneous joy from winning their first district championship...i actually talked to coach A and several of your coaches as it was going on-we sort of looked around like...wow...this is crazy with the field the way it was...pretty typical in big games like this whether in high school or college...and if the game would have been at blackman...the same thing would have happened!!!...matter of fact, years ago, ECU beat southern Miss. at their place 13-6 so we could be bowl eligible at 8-3 and the field was just like it was at riverdale...and we all did some serious sliding...it's actually pretty fun... :roflol:

if yall had won at our place...ya'll would have done the same thing...and it would have been understandable...and it sure did not hurt the field...not sure how yall are going to play on it next week...but that is another subject...

by the way...i was told by several of our players that your players were class acts...no junk talking...just good hard football playing...during and after the game...this is even harder to do after a tough loss like this...

The fact of the matter is...these are two really good football teams...and it is highly unlikely that either one will ROCK the other...

when oakland beat us...i just said, great, great job oakland and described a few of their strengths and our weaknesses for the game...

i know it's hard to lose, weve done it for years

but it is sometimes harder to hate losing and yet lose with class...your players did it on friday...maybe they can help you do the same...

you make a good point. but the way I see it is that this game was decided by a football sliding into the endzone on a stroke of pure luck. the rain has affected games the entire year, but friday was the worst by far. but i totally agree with you, those are just excuses. if riverdale were to face blackman on a more suitable night, there wouldn't be any reason for excuses. i apologize for my excitement, but with the group of kids riverdale has, its hard not to get excited!

If you will recall, I said before this one that I was afraid it would be end on a controversial play in which the weather was a factor. Looks like I was right. That is a rule in the pros and I also thought it was consistent all the way down into the high school ranks. Of course it wouldn't be the first time the refs have blown a call , but I would have thought if it was a wrong call that Coach A would have gone ballistic and questioned it.

This is only the 2nd time I have posted on the football board because baseball is our sport but I wanted to point out a couple of things from what I thought was a good high school football game in the worst conditions possible.

1) I enjoy your posts because you usually make sense and are objective. I wish more posters in all sports were objective as it would make for much better discussions. I do not agree with your comments on the field. Celebrating is one thing but tearing up a field with more games to play is not ok. The cost of repair should be shared by both schools AND the coaches should know where the lines should be drawn on celebration and destruction. Many people that I was standing around after the game felt the same way - celebrate as we would expect you too but don't destroy. We would feel the same way if it were our kids doing that to your field.

2) It troubles me to see the handfull of fans on both sides that are making this such a nasty message board. Bottom line there are good people and good kids at both schools and both teams are having good seasons. That is nothing but positive for Rutherford County. The Farrgut baseball program is hated by much of the entire state not because of their talent but because of a few fans that are so obnoxious that it brings negativety to the entire program. Both sides should keep that in mind as it is a reflection on their programs before they start posting stupid things.

3) Your son was a stud and a difference maker. I hope he is a senior. :roflol:

4) The real travesty in all of this is how screwed up the brackets are for the playoffs. I can't beleive they have all of the Rutherford county schools knocking each other out before the semi - finals. Very poor system.

The sweet taste of Victory is way mo betta than sour grapes. You lost, get over it, move on. Geeeez!

where were you after Oakland beat you down, very quiet. You lost get over it.

Thanks for making my point about losing with class, there was nothing to be said about losing to Oakland, we lost numb nuts! We move on, and moved on to the DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP! get over yourself. Quit living in the past. The past can not be lived in only re-visited, you can't move back only look back! At the end of the day you must realize it's a game played by children, were adults that have very little to do with what goes on on the field other than paying to get in, wearing a shirt and yelling ourselves into a big headache.

Pour youself another glass of hateraid, pop in a old video tape of days gone by and take a nap, see you in yesteryear.

WE ARE BLACKMAN! it's 2009 and we are District Champions!

I left the game as soon as it was over. I didn't see the sliding on the field after the game by the Blaze players. If I had, I would have brought it up already. I do remember when siegel got their first win in school history in the rain at Lavergne. Their players and fans slid and rolled all over the Lavergne's field for 30 minutes after the game. I remember how it caused a huge uproar because of all the damage they did to the field. Their fans got on here and laughed and laughed like crazy about all the fun that they had tearing up that field. I remember how angry the Lavergne fans were about it, and how many hrs that it took to work on that field for the next week's game. Most of us that have been around awhile know that Lavergne's field has been the butt of a lot of jokes because of the holes and unevenness of it before that damage was even done to it. I also recall yrs ago that Coach Shad had an article in the DNJ trying to get the Smyrna/ Lavergne game moved to Smyrna's field because of the safety factor. He was worried about injuries to his players because of their holes and such. So why in the world would he allow his players to do that to Riverdale's field knowing they were in the playoffs with probably a home game the next week?

It's been this way since about 1995, with the exception of the 2 years that Oakland and Riverdale were split up an not in the same Region. They say that's about travel, I would argue differently. You could potentially have 3 Rutherford Co teams and 3 Williamson Co teams in the Quarterfinals if they were all split up, instead you can only have 1 from each at most.

As far as the sliding on the field goes, that field was already destroyed during the game. I doubt that the sliding done by Blackman players damaged it much more than it already was.

As far as Coach Shad controlling his players and not allowing this to happen, this was a spontaneous reaction by Blaze players celebrating. It was not planned. Shad would have had no time to stop this. We won, players jumped up and down and slid as Riverdale would have done had they won.

As far as the game, in my opinion, Blackman outplayed Riverdale in the horrible conditions and deserved to win the game. Offensively we were better, defensively we were better. I don't know official stats but it sure seemed we fumbled more than Riverdale.

As far as Blackman's so called lucky play at the end of the game where we fumbled and recovered in the end zone, we were definitely fortunate to recover. It certainly could have gone the other way and Riverdale may have very well won but no one from Riverdale then would be talking about the weather related luck play they received on the fumbled blocked punt that actually went out of bounds before it was recoverd so it should have only been a safety. Final should have been 7-2 Blackman in regulation, no ot needed.

As far as playoffs, Blackman actually has to prepare for a game this week against a good team in McGavock. An upset of Blackman is possible. Hope Blackman comes ready to play. Riverdale somehow as a #4 seed gets to play the easiest team in the quad but from what I have learned from Riverdale and Oakland fans is that playing these cupcakes will not prepare you for the rest of the playoffs.
