randymc
Here are your automatic eligible teams: Tennessee High (5A) D1 #1/2 Sullivan South (5A) D1 #2/1 Daniel Boone (5A) D1 #3 Morristown West (5A) D2 #2 Morristown East (5A) D2 #4 Seymour (5A) D2 #5 Clinton D3 #1/2/3 Anderson Co D3 #3/2/1 Knoxville Powell (5A) D3 #4 Knoxville Catholic (5A) D4 #4/5 Cleveland (5A) D5 #4/5 Cumberland County (5A)/White County (5A) Winner D6 #4 Columbia (5A) D8 #1 Lawrence County (5A)/Tullahoma (5A) Winner D8 #2 Gallatin (5A) D9 #2 Beech (5A) D9 #3 Henry County (5A) D10 #1 Clarksville Northeast (5A)/Clarksville Northwest (5A) Winner D10 #2 Clarksville Northeast (5A)/Clarksville Northwest (5A) Loser D10 #3 Hillsboro (5A)/Centennial (5A) Winner D11 #5 Glencliff (5A) D12 #4/5 Hardin County (5A)/Jackson Northside (5A) Winner D13 #2 Hardin County (5A)/Jackson Northside (5A) Loser D13 #3 Craigmont (5A)/Bartlett (5A) Winner D14 #2/3/5 Ridgeway (5A) D15 #3/4/5 Melrose (5A) D16 #3 Mitchell (5A) D16 #4 27 teams, leaves 5 wildcard teams (District 9 is messy, but I think they get a WildCard anyway so it would only matter for seeding purposes). Top Wildcard teams are: #1 Lawrence County (if they lose to Tullahoma) #2 Hendersonville (Or Gallatin or Beech if they aren't the 2 Automatics) #3 Shelbyville #4 Tullahoma (right now, BUT if they are a Wild Card team, they would have another loss, so if Clarksville (playing Kenwood) and/or David Crockett (playing Danile Boone...pioneer bowl?!? ) win, they could get bumped out) so I really see Tullahoma as Wild Card #6 #5 Clarksville #6 Halls if they win and David Crockett loses, David Crockett if they win, or Halls loses So this breaks down similar to District 7 in 6A where the district would get 4 teams in the playoffs if the lower wildcard team were to win next friday night! How bad would it be if Tullahoma actually beat their County Rival Coffee County 26-14 and Coffee County gets in 6A playoffs, and boarder rival Shelbyville 20-7 and they get in 5A playoffs. That Warren Co loss REALLY hurts them. OK so here are the quadrants: Quad 1 1 Tennessee High (5A) D1 #1/2 2 Sullivan South (5A) D1 #2/1 3 Morristown West (5A) D2 #2 4 Daniel Boone (5A) D1 #3 5 Morristown East (5A) D2 #4 6 Powell (5A) D3 #4 7 Seymour (5A) D2 #5 8 Halls WC If wildcard goes to David Crockett, they will have to be seeded 6th to avoid playing a district opponent in rounds 1. Which is really unfair to Powell and Seymour. In this case 6 David Crockett 7 Powell 8 Seymour Quad 2 1 Clinton D3 #1/2/3 2 Columbia (5A) D8 #1 3 Anderson Co D3 #3/2/1 4 Knoxville Catholic (5A) D4 #4/5 5 Cleveland (5A) D5 #4/5 6* Shelbyvlle WC 7* Cumberland County (5A)/White County (5A) Winner D6 #4 8 Tullahoma WC Quad 3 Clarksville WC 1 Gallatin (5A) D9 #2 2 Clarksville Northeast (5A)/Clarksville Northwest (5A) Winner D10 #2 3 Beech (5A) D9 #3 4 Clarksville Northeast (5A)/Clarksville Northwest (5A) Loser D10 #3 5 Glencliff (5A) D12 #4/5 6 Hillsboro (5A)/Centennial (5A) Winner D11 #5 7 Hendersonville WC 8 Clarksville WC Quad 4 1 Henry County (5A) D10 #1 2 Hardin County D13 #2 3 Craigmont (5A)D14 #2 4 Lawrence Co D8 #2 5 Jackson Northside D13 #3 6 Melrose (5A) D16 #3 7 Ridgeway (5A) D15 #3/4/5 8 Mitchell (5A) D16 #4 This is BY FAR the most volatile Quad. Lots of week 10 games with seeding implications so I fully expect this Quad to be turned upside down next friday. *Reseeded to avoid same district 1st round meeting Map: http://www.dabbleboard.com/image?b=Gues ... 3f8&t=.png
randymc
Does anyone else find it really confusing how overall record is so darn important when determining tie breakers in district standings and wildcard team selection, but then not important when seeding teams within a quadrant? Actually, Powell wrapped up the third automatic spot from district 3 (Clinton/Anderson County are 1-2) with a win over Central on Friday night. Powell is now 4-4 in district and 5-5 overall and has its open date week in week ten. Halls has Central left Friday night. Even if they win and finish 4-4 in district and 4-6 overall, Powell has the head to head win over them and has the #3 automatic (there are 6-5A teams in district 3) locked down. Without a "quality" win, it looks like Halls may be left on the outside looking in.

theydontcare
Looking at Wildcard web page on TSSAA the wildcards are as follows: Reminder there is still a big friday to go! Hendersonville gets the first Tullahoma gets the second Shelbyville gets the third Clarksville gets the forth Last spot is given to one of the following in order of wildcard ranking from TSSAA: David Crocket (Must beat Daniel Boone to lock final spot) Springfield (Must beat West Creek and Daniel Boone beat David Crocket) Munford (Must have both Crocket and Springfield lose and beat Westwood) Knox Halls (Must have all three above lose and must beat Knox Central) Since there are 27 automatic bids in 5A, there will only be 5 wildcards given to complete the 32 teams in the playoffs. What a crazy system?

randymc
Columbia in Quad 2?!?!?!?!?! Where else do you put them? Quad 3? and Move Glencliff or Gallatin to Quad 2?
theydontcare
David Crocket is in front of Springfield in the wildcard race, but do they stay in front if the Pioneers lose this week to the Trailblaziers. This makes this week interesting. Lets look at this if they lose Friday and Springfield wins! This is only if David Crocket loses and Springfield wins this Friday: David Crocket's 4 wins are against: Cocke County 5A (2-7) Volunteer 5A (0-9) South Greene 3A (4-5) Sullivan South 5A (1-8) Springfield 4 wins are against: Northeast 5A (6-3) Rossview 6A (6-3) Kenwood 5A (1-8) West Creek 5A (1-8) How is this system easier than the last?
