Well, since no one as talked about this game at all, I figured I'd give it a shot.

I don't know the first thing about Sevier County and I've never heard an undefeated team be so quiet. Are they legit or are they the beneficiaries of a weak schedule? I have no clue. What should the Bulldogs expect out of them and can they make a legit run at Cookeville?

Due to lack of info, I'm saying Bearden in a 8 over 1 upset.

Solly I picked Bearden in your lifetime membership give away also. I've seen SC play one time and that was on tv and seen Bearden one time against Maryville to me based soley on those games Bearden just has more weapons. But let me say this about SC years ago my family owned a restaurant in Maryville and one Friday afternoon we fed the entire SC team on their way to some far off playoff game and I have never met a better group of young men! We told them as they were leaving they were welcome back anytime just as we told a local team not to ask us to feed the team again, based on poor behavior and a head coach who apparently saw nothing wrong with it. Congrats to the SC coaches and players on a perfect regular season but I think Bearden just has more play makers, but it won't upset me if you prove me wrong.LOL

I believe SC is a good football team, you have to be to win all 10 of your games. But IMO they were fortunate to beat Seymour, and I don't think anyone will argue against the point that Seymour was down this year. Bearden has a competitive squad and plays in the toughest district in the entire state. If DY is healthy I believe Bearden upsets the Smokey Bears. So I'll take Bearden by 7.

Solly, To cover a couple of your questions....

The TSSAA with the realignment created SC's schedule. SC had only 2 out of conference games, DB & Knox Halls. SC played 8 5A teams and 2 6A (DB & Jeff Co) teams. SC and Halls has developed into a friendly rivalry which was worth continuing. MO West & East along with Seymour are nothing to laugh at! They all could make some noise in the 5A playoffs!!

The Seymour game was a BIG Rivalry game, throw the records out and put on the gloves! It was messy and damp on the field! We were fortunate to win, but we did have 3 TDs called back. Seymour has a very tough defense that I think will help them keep things interesting with TN High. The only thing about the refs that I did question was the late hits on our QB. They called us for one(which kept the game tying drive alive), but not one on them.

Now a little on SC.....

SC has probably the most underated QB in the state!! Zach Flynn can flat out throw the football! We don't have GREAT Receivers, but we do have quite a few of GOOD receivers. We are very explosive on offense. Defense has been bend but don't break. We lack DL deph and it shows at times, but we do get fired up and play well! We have probably the best group of athletes that SC has had in quite a few years. This compliments a VERY WELL RESPECTED CHRISTIAN HEAD COACH & STAFF! FAITH, FIGHT, FINISH! Is our Motto!

That being said... Bearden may have some success running the ball, they did last year. Young is a very talented running back that we know first hand! SC should be able to put points on the board also. I think it will be a shootout with the team limiting turnovers winning! We have heard that Bearden's QB is banged up. This could change some things also.

This should be a second round game instead of first round! Look at our POD, half of the teams are ranked in the top 10 in the state! I did not see Bearden a 8 seed, but a 6 seed ahead of DB & Oak Ridge. But you are in the playoffs! You are supposed to be the cream of the teams! Just wished the PODs were more evenly matched!

GO SMOKY BEARS!!!!

Bearden has beaten some poor teams pretty bad, but they also took it on the chin against the good teams in their District so I don't really know who to pick. Both teams beat WB. SC beat them early by 17 (Week 0). Bearden beat them by 14 two weeks later. I'm going with SC by 6 since they are playing at home on the hump.

SC played 3 non-conference games: Week 0 William Blount (6A) Won 31-14, Week 1 Halls (5A) Won 17-14, Week 3 Dobyns-Bennett (6A) Won 30-13. They played 3 6A and 7 5A. They beat 4 playoff teams.

I stand corrected...we did play WB out of District, so that makes 3 6A teams we played. I was used to them being in our District, sorry.

The "hump" may come into play if you have never been there, but Bearden has.

I still say this one comes down to turnovers. I still have not heard about Bearden's QB....is he okay?

Go SMOKY BEARS!!!

Bearden should come into this game very prepared. The last three ballgames the Bulldogs have played, they have played well. Devrin is ready to have another breakout game, and some added incentive is the Bulldogs 1st round playoff lost at home to Soddy Daisy last year. The Bulldogs will be ready tonight at 7pm...Leonards Losers Smokey Bears by 7

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
