If I were among the powers to be at SH, I would try to lure Shawn Witten. He has a proven “Three Year Program”. They need a coach at Science Hill that not only knows the game but is a true motivator, for the sake of not only the players but the fans and that program in general. That is exactly what Witten would bring to the table. I say SHOW HIM THE MONEY!!!

He wouldn't leave Elizabethton...well I am sure there is an amount of money that he would leave for but no one has that money right now. And for the amount that it would take you could probably get a better coach. And yeah, I know he got the program back to the usual in 3 years.

SH will probably go out of area to get a coach if they do replace Smith...and we can sit back and watch what happens again.

Stacy Carter at Sullivan South may be on a very short list of potential replacements.... Smith is gone, no way the Toppers keep him around another year. I hope they do though.

Just a Indian jacka$$ running off at the mouth...maybe they can get Graham Clark after these back stabbing dedicated Indian fans run him out of town...as for Stacy he's happy right where he's at...but who knows money talk's.Good luck Topper fan's you deserve the best. :thumb:

Why call Art a "Indian jacka$$" Just when all us DB fans were starting to warm up to you Southers(feeling sorry for you). And I know your a "outsider" and all and don't know much about DB football, but even though we have given our coach a hard time we still love him and we dang sure ain't gonna' let him get away. Its a Indian thang. You wouldn't understand. Art is wrong though. No way do they look at Carter. Their biggest concern is beating DB. And we all know that ain't Carter. Sorry but its true.

Here's an observation on Science Hill Hilltopper Football from a true fan of NET football. I was in attendence at the Science Hill at Sullivan South game this year. Sat on the visitors side in fact.... why would it matter you ask? Plenty of Great seats on the vistors side. Here's my point: If Smith stays or if he's replaced, the Johnson City community needs to show some semblance of support for the team. SHHS is one of the largest schools in the state, playing at a rival school, which is maybe 20 minutes drive. There may have been 100 Hilltopper fans there. How does that happen? I mean, the Toppers biggest rival, DB, will bring a huge fan base (as long as the count is done in the first half before the banders pack up), South and Tennessee High will bring a huge fan base when playing in Church hill or even Knoxville. Even winless Volunteer has a larger, more supportive fan base. I know it hurts to hear this, but what if I'm right? Seriously, you want to beat DB someday? Find a way to pump some life into your community, your students, and a coaching staff that will bring excitement, not books written on football. The high school coaches have to get involved in the middle schools and earlier as well. Keep the kids excited to someday be a Topper. Do you think kids in Kingsport are excited about the day they get to step on the turf, or Bristol kids getting to step on the field at the castle?

Just my thoughts. Hope you guys can turn her around. Good luck this basketball season as well.

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
