i know loudon wants this bad. their D is 2nd in 3A right now. Offense is greatly improved with a QB that will throw a pass, hand it off, or run it...and he can do all 3. He has receivers ready and able, the RBs hold top 10 spots on prep extra, and LB/TE that are fast and have no fear.

This is not the same team that walked onto CAKs field early season. I am very proud of these guys! We know how u Polk guys feel about the low level of recognition! I have read a lot of posts on here throughout the season that talk about Loudon and Polk like we are nothing to be concerned about...its time to show these guys that we deserve and demand respect! One of us will advance to the next level...and IMHO Either of us can WIN and advance to state! SO GET OUT THERE AND SHOW THEM THAT THESE BOYS ARE NOT TO BE LAUGHED AT!

Good luck to both teams!

And lets not forget to mention the OL/DL!!! might not be so BIG but they definately get the job done!

I think the total points in this game will be around 30....Only South Pitt and Walker Valley (go figure) scored more than 20 on Polk's 1st D...Last 6 games have produced 5 shutouts...

I know lesser opponents, but holding teams to less than 100 total yards (Meigs had 17 TOTAL), is pretty good no matter...

I'm going to stick with 21 - 10 Polk

You could hold Meigs Co to 17 total yards if you played your Junior Team (7th & 8th grades) Your junior team is pretty good and Meigs is pretty bad.

DfanTN, Regardless if it is true bout Meigs County I don't think you should dog the kids on here like this. Kids don't need to get on here and read post about them like this. These kids range from 15 to 18 years old and they are still kids! Just remember karma is a B...h what goes around comes around. But when it does come around to your group personally I will not get on here and bash or humiliate any group of kids, don't care and don't need a response. Just need a little more class.

The doc says that part of growing up is facing the facts. Truthfully the J.V. prob could have beat the Meigs Co. varsity. trust me the players aren't stupid they can handle the truth and they know that they were bad this year. It has nothing to to with class IMO. With that said I hope that the Tigers get things turned around. MC football is full of great tradition and it is good for the district for Meigs to be competitive.

I haven't seen Loudon play this year. I understand that they play a game very similar to Polk (physical on both sides of the ball, strong running games, etc.). Do they try to lengthen the field with a vertical passing game or do they generally throw intermediate range passes? Does Loudon have any anyone on the outside that is a threat to go deep down the field?

I did not intend to take a shot at any kids. I will be more a little more considerate in the future. I do believe Megis is one of those schools with great tradition. When I played it was one of the toughest places to go and win one. I am a Sweetwater man so I know what it means to be down. I just wanted to point out this may not be the best match up to pull defensive stats from because it does not tell me much.

We will find out who has the most gas in the tank POLK OR LOUDON in 26Hrs an 30min.

Yeah, whoever is wishing for Alcoa is nuts, I would wish for them in the state championship - this way I could say WE were the state runner up.

I think what DmacDaddy was meaning was that he would like to see how well we stacked up with the best team in the state. Alcoa IS the best team in the state but I don't foresee anyone in red (Loudon or Polk) preparing to get on their knees and pay homage to them next week. Whether you lose 3rd round or championship game second place is just first loser.

Thank you ,Doc.No disrespect was intended.Alcoa IS hype. You can dissect it,whatever.I mean hype like they can't lose.Well, anyone that has paid attention knows any team can lose at anytime. The d%#$heads in Nashville,i.e.-TSSAA,need to leave just like all the %#$heads in D.C.I have always liked a good game over a blowout. As i said before,I don't know how all the districts, classes, etc.work or why.Seems to me if a team keeps clobbering their foes and end up state champs for years its time for some revisions. And that is not just Alcoa. It was a great game at South Pitt.I would have been just about as happy with a loss. Two pretty much equal teams. Why for God's sake would you want to keep on pounding teams that are nowhere near your equal I'll never know.We used to play Copperhill 'till things got out of hand.It doesn't do anything for the teams or the community to beat someone just because of your classification.Anyhow,I personally,

These polk boys have played together since they were on the pampers team (crickets) and know how each outher plays. There is no jared allen in the word team. He is a good player but so is the rest of the players. You need all 12 players to make a team and that is what they do. Unlike the comment that states Allen makes the team i will call you down for that. the team makes Allen. If all players thought they were the number one player they would not be where they are today. Coach Davis does not seem to think that there is only one player. but that they respond to the possion they play. if you build up an ego player then they think they don't need help to win and that is where lossing happens and thats what the coaches are trying to teach. All team members playing together is what wins games. These boys all work together for their team. I hope polk wins if only for one reason. Polk county nevers gets much praise for their games win or lose local tv stations just brush by them. There is alot of tallent in polk county but nobody ever talks about them.

Jared is an athlete. No one but him is responsible for that. However he was not on the junior team with Rocky that won the championship. You only have a team for a year. Some stay, some go.THIS team is the real deal. There are sixty some boys on the team this year and they all contribute. Its a team sport, and Derrick has let the boys know that since he started. The comment about no praise I pretty much agree with EXCEPT the fact that they get it from who it counts-their coaches, parents, and fans.We are out here for OUR boys.Go Big Red.

I wouldn't think they are getting nervous they just want all the attention. They are a great team, however, they can be beat. I have not seen a team that I think could do it without playing a perfect game, but it could be done. NO MISTAKES (Penalties, Turnovers, Negative Gains) You must run the ball, limit their possesions, try to match their physical play, and tackle well. I would guess with the physical nature of Polk & Loudon these would be the closest in East TN of having a chance, but if either of these teams look forward to next week the only way they will see Alcoa is to buy a ticket. THIS ONE WILL BE CLOSE!

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
