DeKalb County VS Maplewood

Hope to see some good informative post regarding Maplewood. Im not sure if these two teams have ever played each other. DeKalb has the offense to keep them in most games, but the defense can be hit and miss. Good luck to both team and lets hope for an exciting injury free game for both teams.

Maplewood will score points in this game, thats a given. Question is how productive can DeKalb offense be against this formidable defense. Speeding2Live is right in saying DC has the offense to keep them in almost any game. If DC is moving the ball on offense and scoring points early in the game this one may be a 4th quarter game.

 

Bottom line. We have a group of Seniors that will take that field Friday determined not to lose. Bottom line. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain, Maplewood is a #1 seed, DeKalb is a #5.

BOTTOM LINE. If DeKalb wins this game, it will be (No questions asked) the biggest win in the history of DC football. Going into a #1 seed home field in the 2nd round of the playoffs. And the whole DC team will know this.

I'm not familiar with Maplewood. I have seen their schedule and all the scores from it, but that's it. Does anyone have any info. on whether they rely more on the pass or the ground game?

im actually glad to see DeKalb win. i think this game this week boils down to DeKalbs passing protection. doesnt maplewood have a d1 talent on their oline

Maplewood replies almost exclusively on the run game. Toss sweeps and counter plays are their forté. They will throw if it's third and long. But that's about the only time they'll pass the ball. They play more of a ball control game. IMHO both their offense and defense are not as good as they have been in the past few years, although the defense is still good enough this year to keep the offense from having to make a lot of long drives.

 

To beat the Panthers defensively you will have to shut down the run game. Their QB is a good scrambler but not a good passer; or runner when chase out of the pocket. Offensively, unless you have a great passing or running game your best bet is to try plenty of counter plays. They're not as disciplined on defense as they should be because they tend to reply on athletic ability. Their secondary is good and their front four is big and quick. But their linebackers are a bit on the small size. So being about to get pass the front four should be the goal.

 

The only real plus for the team this year over the past five years or so is that they now have a reliable place-kicker for extra points and short field goals attempts.

 

Having said all that, I still see Maplewood winning this game. I haven't seen anything about DeKalb County but I'll hazard to guess that if the Tigers don't get ahead by two touchdowns, or more, the Panthers will grind out a win.

It's likely they'll play at Hillsboro again. If they can make it to the quarter finals their field may be ready for play by then.

I see Maplewood winning this one too. DeKalb's qb does have a good arm, and he and Abram Edwards are the big playmakers on the Tigers team. Poteete can make long end-zone passes that will make the Panthers have to get good pass protection, and other than that Poteete is a scrambler and made a long run himself in the game against us. Our run game worked well against the Tigers and I expect Maplewood is as physical and has more speed. It may be possible for the Tigers to win, but not likely.

 

A word of advice to DC: Maplewood may not be as accomodating on your annoying train whistle as Greenbrier was, so I would tread lightly on the nerves of Metro fans.

Even though they have been better a than average team for about the past five years, their band often out numbers fans in the stand (even in playoff games). And that's with the band having been reduced in size by a third over that same five years. And I doubt that a train whistle will be as annoying as Maplewood's band playing nearly all night long.

you can leave that crap whistle right where you found it, in the trash...and i can see now that you havent been to a maplewood game in a while. the fans are coming ..but its not the fans you need to be worried about.
