TSSAA looks sane to the way FLORIDA settles things

Well Florida makes it simple and easy top two teams in district go the the playoffs but if thier is a three way tie they go for a shootout it goes like this

"Thanks to that win, Walton, Chipley and Marianna, all of which have 1-2 district records, will duke it out for the right to follow district champ Catholic into the playoffs in a shootout at 7 p.m. today at Chipley.

Walton (3-6) will face Marianna (4-5) in the first quarter, and the winner of that matchup will move on to play Chipley (4-5) in the second quarter, which will ultimately decide the team that takes the district’s coveted second playoff spot."

bascially three way tie for second place, so they flip a coin to see whom gets to play the 2nd QTR.

so a team plays a 12 minute quarter, winner then takes a 20 min break - laces em back up and plays the coin toss winner for another 12 min QTR- winner moves into playoffs... so basically a team plays last game of year on Friday, on Monday they play again be it 2 Qtrs if they come out on top and start playoffs that Friday --- fun to watch but crazy

Playing a quarter, that sounds like a waste of time and not worth the risk of getting a player injured. LET all teams in, extend the playoffs by one week, let season play deciced playoff brackets and allow first week byes, everyone would benifit, even the tssaa would make more cash.

they could do it like texas. if there is a tie in texas, they break it with overall points scored in the season. one team missed the playoffs by one point last friday. they won by six points but needed to win by seven to win the tie breaker. they dont care about overall record

I agree but I'll bet this method would lead to a bunch of coaches crying about teams running up the score early in the season.

Interesting info...I like that method. Its a little different but seems fair for all teams involved...better come out and score in a hurry!
