blueboy
Word on the streets is that the job has been offered to Scot Smith. 89-91 NCS 92 Minor league somewhere 92-96 Antioch 96-98 Greenbrier 98-99 Antioch 99-04 EHCS 05-06 Independence 07-09 Science Hill , resigned under pressure after his team went 4-6 last season. His three seasons resulted in 14-17 record and just one play-off appearance. Sounds like MC is looking at a couple more 3-7 seasons. Smith is disliked by several middle Tn. Coaches. Moore County football deserves better than this. A house divided will not stand. News of his hiring has already caused some issues inside the High School. Maybe enough people can get to the members of the school board and get this hiring stopped in its tracks. Person or persons involved with this hiring should be fired on the spot. Smith will get more Christmas cards in July than wins this fall.
frito46
RADIER FAN IS WHAT I AM.. I Feel that coach Matthews was a little over his head as far as being the head coach ... he did all he could do with what he had ... players and assit coachs...( ESP DEF. Assit... )Im not going there... As I hear of the new coach Scott Smith's name come a play I feel that the Admin. has yet to drop the ball again. We need a coach with stability... Coach Christian was the right fit ... his players want him to be the coach yet the Admin failed to listen ...and it was the players themselves who outted matthews not the community ... the players didnt want to play for him or Crtchfield ... this team is very young BUT Very talented as well quick and fast BUT a little under sized... WHOEVER TAKES THIS POSTION BETTER NOT RUN THAT FREAKIN WING T OFF...... spread it out heck run the WILDCAT ... lol.... all I can say is GOOD LUCK RAIDERS... redskin1999
i dont know if smith has been offered the job or not, i had heard he was taking a head coaching gig in in nc. I found his overall coaching record overall somewhere on here and he is like 77-49 overall and won 10 out of his 16 playoff games and a state championship i believe in 1A....I was just wondering why he is hated so much? bigredbird
Scott Smith is a darn good coach. He has a state Championship ring and more coaching experience than your last two or three head coaches combined. You'll be lucky if you get him because he will take a huge pay cut to accept the position.
blueboy
He currently has no job, so any job is better than none. Being invited out of town on his last job does not say much for his ability. He won that 1A ring at Ezell which everyone knew Ezell recruited some of those players in a round about way. I know that someone is going to dispute that but it is what it is. The area coaches know this. He also was known for unsportsmanlike conduct at Ezell. Ezell gave him a nice welcome out of town. Why MC would even bother with him. If he has success which I doubt, he would be gone in a flash to bigger and better things. If you research him on the net you will see that he was looking for a job out of state on Jan. 20, 2010. Why put your student-athletes through that? I know for a fact that some of the College coaches think he is full of it.
bigredbird
I played against him when I was in HS and I knew him as a professional at Indy. You will not find a better coach in TN. Sure he applied out of state, he is looking for a job. The point is he has won a state championship at the 1a level and I can't remember the Raiders going to the big game in recent years. If you would rather have a darn rookie with no head coaching experience, go right ahead; that is what you had the past two years. btw He left EHCS because he got a divorce. They won't hire teachers who have been divorced. It's hard to find coaches who haven't had marital problems these days since they are expected to work 7 days a week in FB season. redskin1999
that would be a pretty unique mixture of his ooaching style, normally he usually a spread it out coach,, i know he has been more run oriented the last few years. I know this for sure is that he does not run the wing=-t a friend told me that knows him quiet well that he is in his mid forties and is fixing to get re-married and wants to move somewhere quiet and build a log cabn and coach some football and get involved in a small community where it is very quiet...he has grown up some the last few years is lee atkins still n the mix for the job?I had heard that he was?
