If what I am hearing is true, then the Lord works in mysterious ways at the following address: 7171 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931 (Grace Christian Academy).

I would agree. Those defenses He put together at GCA in the playoffs for the 2009 South Pittsburg game (57 points given up), 2008 Greenback game (61), and 2007 Midway game (49) give a new meaning to the word "holy".

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. (And tackle somebody.)"

So a team can cheat as long they end up getting beaten badly? dry.gif

"Cheat" and "getting beaten badly" would largely be considered a non sequitur. This is a classic example of "needing to fire the recruiting coordinator" if there ever was one if the allegations are on target.

I don't know what's going on at this school. If they (or anyone else) are cheating, they need to be punished accordingly. But from what I see on paper from this school's defense in football (not to mention its girls basketball program - I assume the 2009-2010 record is not a misprint), if cheating is occurring, then there is some horrid assessment of talent taking place by the conspirators.

You have to see where Grace has come from, they have made huge strides over the past few years,Sp ran over alot of teams. 4 years ago , they would have scored 50 in the 1st quarter. Grace was actually up 13 to nothing at one point.Grace has helped themselves a ton with transfers, some tend to think its great coaching, but the truth of the matter is, they started winning as the transfers came in. Its no coinsidence. They had a very successful coach ,but I'm afraid he wasn't taking shortcuts at the rate they wanted him to.

Kind of like the way Hampton has been doing things the past few years. Just not much being said about all the kids they bring in each and every year.

Yeah , sort of like Hampton Joe, as far as I know Hampton has had 2 starters transfer in. in the past few years, a lineman came from Knoxville and the Qb came from a nearby school. The qb went to Hampton in elementry . He and his brother went to Elizabethton ,the dad didn't like his brothers situation so the younger one came back to Hampton.

Hampton is probably our biggest rival right now , so trust me if they were getting more than their share of transfers I'd be the first one on here raising a stink. pujos right as far as I know they have had very few transfers that actually play the last few years. Most public schools our size get 4-5 kids transfer to their school each year. 1 out of 20 of those will play a sport and even fewer of them will be any good. GCA has had more transfers in the last 3 years than we (Cosby) have had in 20 , and heres the kicker.....they all end up being starters on their football , basketball , and baseball teams. SP beats alot of people by 50 just so happened it was in the third round of the playoffs last year. Lots of schools have been playing alot longer than they have and haven't even sniffed the third round.

Tell um OldEagle, Grace has more transfers in a year than all the other teams in their region combined.

If South Pittsburg "beats a lot of people by 50", then what separates GCA from all of the other teams who also get beat by 50?

I'll say this: for my 1A money, give me a South Pittsburg or Union City or Huntingdon for a title run each year, and you can have the field, including the "big city" privates. Those schools' non-varsity football teams even have more tradition and grit than any of these Johnny-Come-Lately ABCs.

Everybody else knows what will happen. You will have 7-10 "new" players come to Grace Christian Academy and have their tuition paid for out of the goodness of the school.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
