CoachT
The ballot is now in my hands. Positive feedback is needed as to who you think the nominees should be. Negative comments will not help: The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee will be presented to the top girls and boys in five classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association at the state basketball championships in March. This group is to include three finalists for Miss Basketball and three for Mr. Basketball in each classification. The winners of the coveted award are to receive the distinguished Mr. and Miss Basketball trophy with the other finalists being presented plaques. The awards will be presented for each classification prior to the championship game awards presentation for each class, respectively. The presentation of the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards for Division II will be given on Saturday, March 6 at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville. The presentation of the Miss Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A, AA, and AAA will be given during each championship awards ceremony for each class on Saturday, March 13 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. The presentation of the Mr. Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A, AA, and AAA will be given during each championship awards ceremony for each class on Saturday, March 20 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. Any player at any of our member schools is eligible to receive votes, and I would encourage you to take a moment and give careful consideration to any player with whom you are familiar and who you think deserving of the Mr. or Miss Basketball Award. These votes are a nominating process only. A selection committee that will include representatives from each area of the state will meet to vote on the finalists and winner of the Mr. and Miss Basketball Award for each classification. You may submit the names of up to three players in each classification for the awards. It is not necessary to vote for three players in each category, but that is your option. And, please, consider the statewide aspect of this voting process. In order for your ballot to be counted in the selection process, it must be received in our office via mail or fax (615-889-0544) no later than noon on FEBRUARY 8. Please respond today. MidTNbasketball
Malcom Smith -Clarksville Academy. He's averaging 25 points and over 10 boards a game. He's led his team to the #1 rank in the state. He's shooting over 65 percent from the floor and around 70 percent from the 3 point line. He's truly worthy of the award. He led his team to the state tournament last season year and was named to the all state team and is definately on the same path this year. Purple & Gold Standard
Did Greer sign somewhere ??...I thought I read somewhere that he did...OVC maybe ??...UT-Martin was after him pretty good when Campbell was still the coach there... The Obion Central Rebels sure could have used him this year...Along with Dyersburg's Winn Decker the Rebels would be a much better team right now...Both played at Hillcrest in Troy during their Jr High days... volfan007
Purple, Thomas Greer signed with Austin Peay. I understand that UTM was after him, but he chose The Peay over UTM. I really think this young man could've gone somewhere bigger than this. He's 6'5", and he can handle the ball. He can shoot the 3, and he can drive to the hoop. And, he plays aggressive and smart, just like a coaches son does. And, yes, if Obion Central had kept Greer and Win Decker, they would have been hard to beat. Thanks volfan007...I thought it was an OVC team...He probably just wanted to get a little further from home and play for a program that has had success on a consistent basis... Malcolm Smith was averaging over 24.1 points a game, 10.7 boards a game, was shooting 200/327 from 2pt range (61%), and had shot 14/20 from 3 point range (70%) prior to the Jo Byrns game (11 pts) and the East Robertson game (33 pts). I don't know whether or not that man is a liar since I don't know him, but he's right about the stats.

yankees8589
Not saying it happens all the time. But it's not uncommon for a dominate high school big man to shoot off the charts FG%. Many more times than not especially in the smaller areas the opposition doesn't provide the type of talent to stop a really good big man.
