District 9AAA - Spring Football

Recommended Posts

Gallatin spring green & gold game showcased some good athletic tallent..Seems the lineman have good size...Several tailbacks with good speed...Also 3 or 4 athletic quarterbacks ...good size and speed with the linebackers ...I was really impressed and was well worth watching this scrimage in the rain...called in 3rd quarter by lighting..If kicking game comes around think this will be a good up coming season for the green and gold..Looking forward to the trip to Canton Ohio in 14 weeks....So how about the rest of the teams in 9AAA ?

Agreed about the kicking game.

Beech and Gallatin will seriously battle for the district title as well as the state championship.

Hendersonville and Mt Juliet should be good and I forsee Station Camp improving alot.

Lebanon and Wilson Central are the unknowns.

Portland....they can only improve but it still will be a long year for them.

I agree. I think its a 3 team race with GHS, Beech, and HHS. MJ lost alot of leadership and talented players. Alot of question marks for the Bears including the QB spot. The defense will have to be vastly improved from last year for MJ to surprise the top 3 teams. You still never want to under estimate a Coach Perry team. Good luck to GHS on their trip to Ohio. Go Bears!

Look for Portland's defense to be alot better. Although, as stated before, it can't be worse. I am not sure about the offense though. The previous staff was ran out partly because of the wing-t and now the new staff is running something eerily similar. The panthers will be better this year, but it is gonna be hard to win more than 2 or 3 games at best. Good Luck!

I thought they went to the spread last year?

Portland has a chance to win one or two simply because they play a rather weak schedule.

Anyone hearing anything about Hendersonville? I am hearing they may be a very good team this year with an experienced line and the Howell kid back under center.

I agree, Portland has an easy schedule. They start off with Greenwood out of Kentucky. They were 1 game away from playing in the state championship game last year in the higgest classification. White House was in the playoffs last year and never a cupcake. Greenbrier was competing for the district title in the last game of the season. On top of that 9AAA is no cake walk.

Your schedule is weak, compared to other district 9-AAA squads. Look at Station Camp, they moved up and put Blackman and siegel on their schedule. No offense to White House but they were no powerhouse last year and Greenbrier is a team the Panthers should beat. I have no clue about the Ky team other than Tennessee football is usually at a higher caliber. All I am saying is if the Portland Panthers are to get better than they need to start winning some of the out of district games because you are correct, 9-AAA is no cakewalk.

That is what I said. Portland's schedule is weak. ¿No Comprende? el stupido?:oops::roflolk: You are talking about the same White House team that was 1 point and a bad call away from beating the 5A state champs.

No you were being sarcastic! Gallatin knows how tough Beech was last year, the Green Wave beat Beech and almost ended their playoff run. Last years White House team was not even close to being one of their best. C'mon man be serious. You know as well as I do that Portland better win those two games because they are not the same caliber of a Beech, Hendersonville, Mt Juliet and a Gallatin! Portland has won a state championship and y'all have played some really good games in the past, just get those boys ready and do something this year. The competition is a lot tougher at this level and unfortunate for the Panthers you just happen to be playing in a top level district in 9-AAA. Things you must deal with to be successful.

    • I think that pretty much sums it up, really. To be perfectly honest, I'm far less sour about Eagleville getting to host themselves in the state tournament every year than I am the fact that we find ourselves in a position that we have to play STATE TOURNAMENT games at a blamed Single A facility.
    • It's time to put away with the award. 18 players selected, and 17 of those players are from Middle and East Tennessee. I guess they don't play baseball in West Tennessee. I understand there will be players that were "snubbed." We can make a legit argument that it occurs in Mr. Football and as well as Mr./Mrs. Basketball. But baseball is not a place where we can sit here and say "these are the 3 best players in this class and that class."  And we got to get rid of these polls bullcrap that's being released. It's all nonsense.
    • Thanks. I'm just trying to understand how this process works.   It seems like a bit of a sweetheart deal to me but the cookie has to crumble somewhere I guess.
    • He won’t got anywhere he has it made in h20 he prob makes almost what a head coach in t c makes plus there’s not as much pressure there everyone is a use to the losing there. I say he will be there for many years just waiting for Webster to leave…
    • Do you happen to know how he stacked against the other nominees? Just curious what the other stats were.
